Spurs grab all the goals and all the points but Bale will grab all the headlines because finally, FINALLY, he played the way we expect him too.
That's how you silence the doubters.
Burnley are still five clear of the drop, while Spurs leapfrog rivals Arsenal into eighth with their biggest home win in the Premier League this season.
Ouch, Hojbjerg is down right at the end and it looks like he's twisted his ankle. GET SOME ICE ON IT!
Spurs counter and Son fizzes the ball across goal for Kane who completely shanks it wide. I'd have put my mortgage on him scoring that. Need a mortgage first actually.
Burnley win another corner and again it's pretty dangerous.
Tarkowski once again makes a nuinsance of himself and forces Alderweireld to head over for another corner.
The second corner is claimed by Lloris.
Tarkowski wins the header but Spurs now break through Lamela.
Oooooh but he takes a heavy touch and fluffs it through to Pope. One minute of normal time left.
- OffJay RodriguezBurnley
- OnLewis RichardsonBurnley
Youngster Lewis Richardson is on for Jay Rodriguez. They're 4-0 down but a day he won't forget running out into a stadium like this.
And, he immediately wins his team a corner!
Rodriguez whacks the bar but Kevin Friend had already blown for a free-kick.
Still, looked good.
Burnley's gameplan was really in tatters after 70 seconds with that early goal.
They set out to frustrate and keep clean sheets but Bale put pains to that and set the tone for Tottenham for the rest of the match.
Mourinho smiled on the touchline. He actually smiled.
Kane and Son almost link up again as the former plays a perfect pass for the latter. But Son's whipped effort flies high and wide.
SON PLUS BALE = GOALS
Lowton makes a great interception as Son tries to release Kane. Playing for pride now!
- OffSerge AurierTottenham Hotspur
- OnMatt DohertyTottenham Hotspur
And Doherty is on for Spurs at the expense of Aurier.
- OffJack CorkBurnley
- OnDale StephensBurnley
Cork is off for Stephens as Burnley make their second change.
Spurs just pinging the ball around now and seeing this one out. Burnley not doing all that much to stop them either.
Kane, however, clearly wants another goal. And he's my fantasy football captain so let's make it happen.
Spurs want the clean sheet, make no mistake. They've had a torrid time at the back in 2021 and need that boost.
They've just under 15 minutes left to keep Burnley out and just under 15 minutes left to grab a fifth.
Alli releases Son down the left and the South Korean cuts inside before rifling at goal.
BUT, Pope dives brilliantly to his left to make the save.
- OffMatej VydraBurnley
- OnChris WoodBurnley
Burnley make a change as Vydra makes way for the returning Wood.
Kane catches the ball so sweetly and there's so much swerve as it flies towards Pope who does brilliantly to tip over.
- OffGareth BaleTottenham Hotspur
- OnErik LamelaTottenham Hotspur
Bale is off after by far his best day in a Spurs shirt this season.
Lamela is on.
Vydra blats one, Lloris makes the save.
Spurs coasting through this a little now and Burnley heads have maybe dropped a little.
- OffLucas MouraTottenham Hotspur
- OnDele AlliTottenham Hotspur
Lucas Moura makes way for Dele Alli!
Flair replaces flair.
Ndombele is dispossessed by Vydra who goes for goal but again Sanchez throws his body in the way.
The midfielder getting his teammates into a bit of trouble there.
Reguilon goes for an absolute 30-yard, puskas-award winning volley.
It flies about 40 yards over.
BALE IS BACK
You'd have to be an elite-level optometrist to see a way back for Burnley now.
If 4-0 a thrashing? I feel as though 5-0 is definitely a thrashing. Can Spurs make this a thrashing?
- GoalGareth BaleTottenham Hotspur
GOAL! SPURS 4 BURNLEY 0 (Bale, 55)
I was just wondering where all the drama had gone but Bale has come up with the goods again.
And this is him back at his best.
Son finds him on the edge of the box, he cuts in and curls into the corner. So much space, so much talent.
Spurs a little less electric in this half and Burnley a little more rigid. As a result, it's not been a thrilling second half so far.
Another pause too as Ndombele goes down under Westwood's challenge.
Westwood is hurt and we've a quick break as he sorts himself out. Burnley have their main man Wood on the bench who would fancy himself to get a goal I'm sure.
Ouch. Vydra floors Sanchez then barges Ndombele to the ground - true wrecking ball football.
Some pure silk from Son in the middle of the park to keep Spurs in possession.
Now Kane sprays out wide for Aurier whose ball in is well cleared.
Burnley have already gone longer in the second half without conceding than in the first - solid improvement.
- 2nd Half
LET'S DO THIS...AGAIN
- End of 1st Half
Fantastic half for Spurs, rubbish half for Burnley. Hard to see a way back for the visitors to be honest, but anything's possible.
Brilliant to see Bale back on this kind of form.
Great game, more of the same please. See you in 15.
FEEL THE BURN
Great touch from Harry Kane to bring down Aurier's cross-field pass.
It's all very classy from the London side as they ease into half time.
Burnley with a few touches up top now as Vydra does his utmost to get the ball into the box.
The Clarets still look up for this and they know it's not over - Spurs have already thrown away a 3-0 lead once this season...
Must be bittersweet for Tottenham fans to see them playing this well because you have to wonder where this kind of attacking intent and momentum has been for the last eight weeks?
Few fouls now as Burnley get stuck in to Spurs. To be fair playing dirty might be their only option right now because man for man they're being completely outplayed.
Ndombele is some player these days. Rarely loses the ball and is allowing Spurs all the freedom in the world going forward as he protects the back-line.
Spurs causing absolute havoc at the moment, and I barely ever use that word.
- GoalLucas MouraTottenham Hotspur
GOAL! SPURS 3 BURNLEY 0 (Moura, 31)
Is that game over? It's a long way back for Burnley.
Just as Burnley were settling into this Spurs strike the killer blow as Reguilon puts a great ball into the box that pings off the head of Tarkowski and lands at the feet of Moura.
The Brazilian makes no mistake from six yards.
If there were any fans in the stadium, they'd be loving this.
Bale almost has a second as he cuts inside but flunks it over. Can't win 'em all.
Burnley give themselves a break with some passes round the back but they still look a little shellshocked with such a lively start from Spurs.
The visitors are having glimpses of goal though...Vydra this time snatches at an effort just inside the box. It's all very open.
A somewhat calm three minutes to give my keyboard a rest but Spurs are dominating.
It's very anti-Mourinho stuff too because they are trying to kill this game off early.
A goal and an assist for Bale already!
Kane now with nine goals in 12 games against Burnley.
73 minutes left to play too...
This could get ugly.
- GoalHarry KaneTottenham Hotspur
GOAL! SPURS 2 BURNLEY 0 (Kane, 15)
THERE'S THE SECOND!
It's a brilliant 50-yard, pinging pass from Bale into Harry Kane who takes a few touches before smashing past Pope.
Burnley are in big trouble here.
Too early to tell if it'll stick, but so far this is exactly what Spurs fans wanted to see from Kane, Son and Bale up top.
They look lightning and the moment and Burnley can hardly cope. Could be 3-0 already.
What a save this is. Moura is eight yards out and he just absolutely belts it at Pope. The 'keeper knows little about it and just gets his body in the way.
He went for power over placement...
Blimey, up the other end Rodriguez gets a look in for Burnley but Sanchez gets a block in. Not much room to breathe in this one.
Burnley back off Kane in the middle (mistake), and he shifts on to his right foot and rifles an effort just wide.
Burnley look rattled.
Tottenham look up for this. Moura drives through the middle now and actually falls over his own feet but Burnley were looking very dodgy three on three there.
Nightmare for Burnley that. I'd barely looked up from my keyboard before Bale had the ball in the net.
The perfect start for him on his third start this season.
- GoalGareth BaleTottenham Hotspur
GOAL! SPURS 1 BURNLEY 0 (Bale, 2)
HERE WE GO! A GOAL INSIDE 70 SECONDS!
And it's that man Bale!!
Son sends in a teasing ball into the box before Burnley have even had a touch and Bale taps in! What a start!
- 1st Half
HERE. WE. GO.
Spurs get us underway...
Kevin Friend refs.
Big Harry Kane with eight goals in 11 games against Burnley...
FIVE MINUTE WARNING
Remember when a skinny Gareth Bale was a left-back at Southampton and went 21 games without winning?
Then years later became unbelievably swole and won the Champions League four times with Real Madrid?
I feel like we've seen more of the former from the Welshman since he rejoined Tottenham but I would absolutely love to see peak Bale back at his best today.
A wise man once said...
SON AND KANE
Part of the Premier League biblical XI (Nick Pope is in goal), these two started the season in unbelievable form.
However, it's not been quite the same in 2021 as Spurs have struggled for goals at all...
But the duo are still well on course to become a record-breaking strike partnership and a goal or two between them today would edge them even closer.
The last time Spurs hosted Burnley, Son scored an absolute worldy and won the Puskas award. No small feat.
And it really is a special goal...YA BEAUTY!
For those who transferred Eric Dier into their fantasy teams this week (me), it comes as no welcome news to discover that he is on the bench today (I'm furious).
On such a rotten run, clearly Mourinho felt the need to shake things up at the back...makes sense, I suppose.
So, a rare start for Gareth Bale...
Will we finally see the best of the four-time Champions League winner?
