The whistle goes and the spoils are shared after what was an excellent game in north London. Fulham will be delighted with that and they could even have won it late on, with substitutes Lookman and Kamara looking very threatening. But Spurs will also feel they should have gone on and won it, with Son's shot off the post the most-obvious missed opportunity to put the game to bed. However, Mourinho's side sat back a bit too much after the break and ultimately they paid the price for that lack of endeavour (Kane and Son were the outfield players with the fewest touches in either side during the second half). On balance a draw was the fair result and if Fulham continue in this sort of form you'd back them to pull themselves out of trouble at the foot of the table.

94'

Spurs pump it long looking for a last-gasp winner, but Areola does well to pluck it out of the air and that is probably game over.

93'

It’s a decent delivery in, but a Spurs head gets to it and the hosts deal well with the second ball too.

92'

Sanchez does well to stop Kamara as the substitute looks to get away down the Fulham left, but his tackle sends the ball onto the corner flag and it flicks the wrong side from a Spurs point of view. Fulham throw everybody forward for the set-piece…

90'

There will be four minutes of added time and you get the sense there will be at least one more decent chance. At which end it'll come is the big question!

89'

Spurs think they’ve got the winner as Reguilon turns home Son’s cross, but the South Korean was offside when he received the ball and it’s chalked off.

Lookman plays in Loftus-Cheek but the Fulham midfielder is denied by a strong Lloris save. The game is wide open now as both of the teams go in search of the win – nobody’s holding on for a point at this stage.

72'

Heung-Min Son is put in on goal by Ndombele’s perfectly-weighted through-ball. Anderson can’t quite get back, but he does at least rush the Spurs man, and Son’s connection is scuffed, sending the shot onto the base of the far post and back out into the grateful arms of Areola. That should have been 2-0, but it’s a lifeline for Fulham.

70'

Sanchez has played well tonight in the Spurs defence and he puts his body on the line with a good block to deny Lookman from a tight angle.

69'

Fulham are dominating possession again now, but they’ll know it only takes one counter-attack for Spurs to double their advantage. It’s a bit of a balancing act between pushing for the equaliser and not committing too many players forward.

68'

Ndombele tries to weave through the Fulham defence, but he gets the ball stuck under his feet slightly and the visitors are able to clear the danger.

Fulham make the first change of the evening and it’s an attacking one with Lookman coming on for Tete.

63'

Loftus-Cheek hands off Hojbjerg in midfield and the Spurs man returns the favour just seconds later but in a slightly less subtle fashion. It’s a booking for the midfielder.

61'

The rain is teeming down in Tottenham now and the game is starting to get a little untidy as the ball zips increasingly quickly across the surface.

60'

Tete almost gets on the end of a clever ball over the top, but he’s at full-stretch and can’t produce a decisive touch.

59'

But the effort slams straight into the wall and Fulham are forced to build from the back again.

58'

Loftus-Cheek lures in Hojbjerg with a nifty bit of footwork on the edge of the box and it’s a free-kick in a very dangerous spot for Fulham…

55'

Winks has a shot from range that looked like it’s curling just inside the post until Areola turns it behind for another corner. The set-piece takes a horrible deflection of a Fulham player, but fortunately for the visitors the ball drifts the right side of the post and it’s just another set-piece for Spurs.

53'

Reguilon has a bit of a wand of a left foot and the Spaniard looks for Son this time. It’s a decent delivery, but is well-defended and loops behind for a corner that Fulham also defend well.

49'

A flick-on finds Tete in space on the right of the box. He has time and space to pick out a cross or curl a shot towards the far corner, but instead he hammers an effort towards the near post that only finds the side-netting. His team-mates and manager are not impressed!

48'

The second half has picked up where the first left off from an entertainment point of view, which is terrific news. This has been a great game so far.

47'

Sissoko weaves towards goal only to be blocked just as he’s about to pull the trigger. Kane picks up the loose ball and resists the opportunity to go to ground when clipped, instead opting to try a clipped cut-back that the keeper intercepts.

46'

We’re back underway and Fulham start the half brightly as Loftus-Cheek very nearly wriggles into space inside the Spurs box.

HT

The whistle goes and Spurs head down the tunnel a goal to the good after a thoroughly entertaining first half. Fulham have been decent, but after a slow start it’s been the hosts who have looked the likeliest, opening the scoring through Kane and posing plenty of threat to extend their advantage.

44'

Sissoko as a wide forward seemed like a slightly strange choice from Mourinho tonight, but it’s clear Spurs had a plan to target that flank, and often it’s actually Aurier who is overlapping Sissoko to get in behind the Fulham defence. It’s working well so far.

44'

Decordova-Reid is almost through on goal but Reguilon shows an impressive turn of pace to get back goalside and deny the Fulham forward.

42'

A Fulham break is halted by the referee for a foul by Anderson on Winks. It was a shoulder-barge really… the only problem was that neither player had the ball. Quite bizarre from Anderson that!

40'

Kane picks out the perfect pass to play Hojbjerg in, but for some reason he takes the shot on first time rather than carrying the ball into the space in-front of him and it’s a comfortable save for Areola.

39'

Interesting stat from Opta on that Kane goal (interesting if you like this sort of thing anyway). That was Kane 25th headed goal in the Premier League, making him only the third player in the division’s history to score 25 headers, 25 right-footed goals AND 25 left-footed goals. Robbie Fowler and Andy Cole are the other forwards to have achieved that feat.

37'

Sissoko appeals for a penalty after what looked like a hint of hand to ball in the box, but that would have been hugely harsh and the referee waves play on (and there’s no intervention from VAR either).

35'

That is so close to an equaliser! A cross into the box is slightly behind Loftus-Cheek, but he pulls out a sensational bit of skill to turn a scissor-kick volley towards goal. The ball takes a flick of paint with it on its way past the post, and Lloris was getting nowhere near that.

32'

This really has been a great game so far. After that early Fulham dominance you have to say that there’s a real underlying threat to Spurs’ play now, with Ndombele drifting into really dangerous pockets in the final third and looking for Son and Kane. It’s great to watch, dare I say surprisingly so for a Spurs match (given what they’ve served up in the league in recent weeks).

29'

Aurier hammers a cross towards Kane after excellent work again by Ndombele (who has been superb so far) but it takes a slight touch at pace to throw Kane off and the header flies over.

27'

In many ways this has been exactly what Mourinho would have wanted from the game. Fulham are dominating possession and coming onto them, leaving opportunities for counter-attacks and space for Kane and Son. It still takes somebody to take advantage of that space though, and boy did Kane do that.

24'

A clipped ball into the box picks out the run of Son and he’s completely unmarked inside the box with plenty of time to hammer in a header. It looks a guaranteed goal, but Areola has other ideas and produces a brilliant save to tip it over.

23'

Wow, what a save that is!

20'

What a fascinating start to this game it’s been. Fulham have been the better side on the whole, but Spurs will feel they should be ahead after those two glimpses of goal for Kane and Son.

18'

Spurs again go close as they latch onto a Fulham error and Son pokes a dangerous shot on target, forcing a terrific reaction stop out of Areola.

17'

Out of nowhere Spurs are very nearly in on goal. A brilliant Ndombele pass finds Kane and only an outstretched toe of the last man denies Kane a golden chance.

16'

Anguissa tests Lloris seriously for the first time in the game, but the Spurs stopper is equal to it and punches the save away from danger with authority.

15'

Still Fulham dominate and Eric Dier is forced into a last-ditch block to prevent a cut-back after yet another dangerous attack from the visitors. He’s hurt himself there too Dier, but looks like he’ll try and struggle on.

13'

But they don’t really make that height count as a pre-planned corner routine goes all wrong and the opportunity to get the ball into the box is missed.

12'

Fulham are bossing this game at the moment and a deflected shot dribbles behind for a corner as the pressure builds. The visitors are a big side too, dangerous from set-pieces…

9'

A Fulham counter-attack works Loftus-Cheek into space, but his shot from distance is well blocked by Reguilon. This is a decent game, surprisingly open so far with Fulham making most of the running.

6'

A blocked shot comes straight back to Reguilon inside the Fulham box, presenting a much better opportunity on the follow-up, but he rushes his effort and skies it over the bar. That’s a decent chance.

5'

Fulham have been the brighter of the two teams in the opening stages… and I’m not just talking about their garish yellow kit. It’s been impressive from the visitors, with plenty of attacking intent.

4'

Those formation questions have been answered quite clearly in the opening moments of the game. Sissoko is playing high on the right in the role that Spurs would normally utilise Bergwijn, while Fulham are pushing Loftus-Cheek really high out of midfield to almost become a front three as the two forwards peel into wide areas.

2'

A free-kick is whipped invitingly into the Spurs box and the defence get themselves into a bit of a mess dealing with it. Hugo Lloris is relieved to drop on the ball after a couple of deflections that could easily have fallen to a Fulham player.

1'

Fulham, wearing all-yellow, get the game underway.

Here we go then, the players are out and we're set for kick-off. It's going to be quite interesting to see how the two teams line up. Spurs could be a diamond, or have Sissoko in the front three, or be a narrow four across the middle, it's quite hard to tell. Fulham are slightly more clear in that we know they'll have a back three and will pack midfield... exactly how that looks in reality we'll find out in a moment or two.

Scott Parker isn’t the only Parker to have been chatting ahead of this game. Eurosport’s very own Paul Parker has predicted a 2-0 win for Jose Mourinho’s side. Here’s why:

" Fulham are a far better team than kicked off this season. Their midfield is stronger, more versatile. They are still trying to play positively. It suits them to play without Aleksandar Mitrovic and set up more defensively, but they do still miss a goalscorer who can get double figures. "
"Good ball retention is a good way to play against Spurs because Jose Mourinho wants to counter attack, so keeping the ball away from them works nicely. But I still think Mourinho will find a way to win because Spurs are just too strong."

Jose Mourinho on the other hand sees no problem with this rescheduling and has laughed off suggestions that it is unfair on Fulham… which is probably the best confirmation you can get that it is definitely unfair on Fulham.

It was a creative bit of thinking from the Premier League and does make sense on one hand to avoid a mass build-up of excess fixtures being carried into the latter stages of the season. However you do have to feel slightly for Fulham, who thought they had a midweek off only to be told at relatively late notice that they were to play one of the league’s best sides. Manager Scott Parker certainly wasn’t shy in making his feelings known…

If you haven’t been playing close attention to the sports news cycle you may be forgiven for asking where Aston Villa are this evening. Dean Smith’s side were originally scheduled to face Spurs this evening, but a Covid outbreak has seen that tie postponed, with Fulham’s rearranged fixture against Tottenham (originally scheduled over Christmas) moved into its place. That change was confirmed on Monday, with Fulham’s next match against Chelsea moved to Saturday evening to make the fixture pile-up more manageable.

Scott Parker has named quite a defensive-looking formation for tonight’s visit to north London, which isn’t a huge surprise, but by the looks of this tweet it isn’t a selection the club’s twitter admin agrees with…

Spurs make a host of changes from the weekend as expected, ten in all, bringing back their strongest side. Moussa Sissoko is the only starter who also began the game in Marine.
