Saved! Superb stop from Sam Johnstone. You wonder if he saw a few of those in England training. A fine save diving to his left anyhow.
PENALTY! Townsend brings down substitute Djenepo and the Saints have a chance for scant consolation.
Vestergaard heads a corner over the bar.
Tella replaces Ings and Djenepo replaces Walker-Peters..
Maitland-Niles is back on the field and now it will be Bartley who is replaced by Ajayi.
Maitland-Niles fell awkwardly in the box and the stretcher is on the field but he is sitting up.
Adams on the break shoots just wide of the target with Johnstone beaten.
Che Adams replaces Walcott and Robson-Kanu is on for Diagne.
Redmond shoots from long range but well wide of the target.
Robinson is brought off for Gallagher. This substitution was planned before the goal, but thankfully for Albion a stoppage did not come about first.
GOAL FOR WEST BROM! Robinson fires home on the break after being played in by Yokuslu he takes the ball towards his left and then fires into the roof of the net.
Yokuslu takes the kick instead and curls it a yard or so over the bar.
Diallo pulls Pereira back and Albion get a free kick 30 yards from goal. A little too far for their Brazilian star you'd think
Redmond plays a ball towards Ings which Yokuslu puts behind for a corner which West Brom clear.
Southampton had a 4 vs 2 for a while on the break there but Walkers-Peters dallied a little before squaring to Armstrong whose shot from 25 yards out is easily gathered by Johnstone.
Ings plays through Redmond but Furlong gets back to put behind for a corner.
Bertrand clips the free kick in instead and Ings meets the header but is way off target.
Ward-Prowse has a set piece now to get his teeth into. 30 yards out but in line with the left hand side of the penalty area.
The Saints with all the possession but still lack the drive to get back into the game.
The Saints are looking sharper in the second half, West Brom now playing with less intensity.
Walkers-Peters puts the ball into s good area behind the defenders but no Saints player gambled to meet the ball.
Ward-Prowse swings in a dangerous corner but Bartley beats Vestergaard to the header.
West Brom get us back underway...
West Brom have looked as good as they have all season, while Southampton are having one of their dreadful performances they have periodically under Ralph Hasenhettl. He looks ready to give both barrels in the dressing room.
Half time is delayed as Ings receives treatment clutching his ankle after a seemingly innocuous coming together with Yokuslu in the box.
Lovely backheel for Maitland-Niles to give Furlong an opportunity to find someone in the box but the Saints clear.
Maitland-Niles has really shown his quality in this loan spell. The best player on the park so far today. He will surely get a Premier League centre midfield gig after this.
Yokuslu has shot from the edge of the box which flies high over the bar.
Ward-Prowse is now in the book for fouling Pereira on the break.
GOAL FOR WEST BROM! Southampton give the ball away on their defensive left flank and Diagne plays a superb cross to the back post where Phillips divert home from a tight angle.
GOAL FOR WEST BROM! Pereira blasts low down the middle and with Forster diving to his right Albion are one ahead.
PENALTY FOR WEST BROM! Maitland-Niles squares the ball in the box and Forster comes out with his feet and brings down Pereira.
Another chance for Furlong. The full backs have been really involved in this game. Phillips feeds him in the box but he shoots wide once more.
A nice short corner move sees Bertrand drive a ball back to the six-yard box where a defensive clearance deflects back off Ings and straight into Johnstone's arms.
At the other end a better effort from Armstrong as Johnstone has to parry his curling 25-yard shot away on the stretch.
A great chance for Diagne, one on one after a lovely ball from Diagne, his first touch was good pushing the ball in front of him but he fires at least two yards wide from near the penalty spot.
The are awake now. Redmond chases a fine ball from Ward-Prowse and he turns a ball back across the six yard box which Bartley puts into the path of Armstrong whose errant shot plays in Ings at the far post, but he can only put the ball back across the area for Albion to clear.
The first decent attack from Suthampton, Redmond drives into the box and then falls under a challege from Yokuslu, then Betrand squares to Ings and he makes room to guide towards with the far post but is just wide.
Southampton look completely out of sorts at present. The game is there to be won for West Brom.
Pereira has a header from 8 yards out that Forster doesn't have to move to comfortably gather.
Pereira plays in Diagne but Bertrand gets back to put it behind for a corner.
Another chance for West Brom with Phillips' cross reaching Furlong at the front post but he gets a poor contact and it goes wide. His dad would have buried it.
Great play from Maitland-Niles exchanging a pass with Diagne on the edge of the box and then slipping a no-look pass to Phillips whose centre is tupped over by Vestergaard.
Lovely turn from Yokuslu in the box but Townsend, who is playing very high up the field, can't control in the box and the ball ricochets off him and behind for a goal kick.
The more replays you look at, the more Diagne seems to be onside. Another VAR howler. Has had a bad weekend the poor thing.
Townsend has a shot from a narrow angle at the other end but Forster puts it behind with his feet.
Lovely turn from Walker-Peters turning Townsend on the touchline then racing to the six-yard boxbut his shot from a tight angle is parried behind by Johnstone.
The decision stands...millimetres in it.
GOAL FOR WEST BROM! Furlong's shot from the edge of the box is headed in by Diagne....but the flag is up for offside. It will be checked.
Bednarek is warned for a foul from behind on Diagne. He might haver been booked for that a little later on.
Southampton get us underway...
Southampton just about even money favourites, with West Brom and the draw around 5/2. The age old betting quandary, do you take the better team or the team who has to win?
West Brom switching from the five at the back they started with at Stamford Bridge to a 4-4-2 with Robinson alongside Diagne, with centre back Ajayi dropping out.
As for Albion, Callum Robinson starts after his two superb goals as a substitute in the remarkable 5-2 win at Chelsea.
After a wretched run of form which included seven straight Premier League defeats, the Saints have won two of their last three and are unchanged from the side which beat Burnley 3-2.
After Newcastle's surprise win yesterday, West Brom lie 11 points behind the Magpies with this game in hand, one of only eight games remaining. Needless to say this is a must win if they are to have any hope of survival.
And these are the Saints who will take the field at the Hawthorns in about 45 minutes' time...
This is how West Brom are lining up...
