Hello and welcome to Burnley v Arsenal – a game that, on recent form, may not be brimming on goals but should be big on action. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s lone goal and Burnley’s single point have been the extent of spluttering starts but both will fancy a good result. Turf Moor is hardly the ideal place to go for a struggling side, but Burnley are winless in 12 at home and Mikel Arteta really needs to make sure his team is bagging maximum points. Team news coming your way soon.

Some neat Arsenal possession results in a decidedly scrappy ball over the top. The Burnley defence will eat those up. Nicolas Pepe and Aubameyang have been bystanders so far.
13'
Still not clear of the Arsenal half! Barnes finds himself standing by himself on the six yard box but over thinks the header. His effort is well wide. Burnley growing into things.
12'
Arsenal keeper Ramsdale is caught admiring his new-found position between the sticks and Burnley almost make him pay.
11'
The introduction of Thomas Partey has beefed up midfield but Arsenal look a little lost for ideas. They lose possession and Burnley break quickly. Very much the theme so far.
9'
An Aubameyang foul gives Burnley to go pure route-one and test the Arsenal defensive line with a ball from deep. The eventual effort from Ashley Barnes is tame.
7'
Burnley finally see something of the ball and force a corner. It's the first time temporary Arsenal number one Aaron Ramsdale has seen the ball.
5'
Odeagaard, who has seen more of the ball than anyone else, finds space and plays a lovely ball out the left. The low cross finds Pepe but his shot is saved.

Arsenal have had all of the all but their passing needs to be quicker. Burnley already settling into their shape.

KICK OFF! We're up and running at Turf Moor.

A finely poised game and both teams will be pushing for points. Kick off is in five!

Much has been made of the Premier League’s new directive to referees to ‘let the game flow’. Among the most vocal has been Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp who said simply: “no one knows what that means”.
Klopp stated that Burnley have been quick to make the most of the slightly cranked physicality and Arsenal may need to rely on the added heft of the recently fit Thomas Partey to soak up some of the meatier challenges in midfield.

Last time out the two teams finished one apiece. The game has come to define Arteta’s time at the club. Arsenal were one up, looking comfortable and pushing for a second when Granit Xhaka overplayed in his own 18-yard box and bounced the ball off a willing Chris Wood for the leveller.

Is Arteta’s side learning from their mistakes or was a win against newly-promoted Norwich an already peeling plaster?
14:25
Sean Dyche will celebrate nine years at Turf Moor next month, and he’s the longest serving current manager in the Premier League by quite a distance. The highlight of his tenure has to be the seventh placed finish in 2018 which saw them compete in the Europa League the next season. Things have not been so rosy since, but a club that certainly knows its way around the top flight will be optimistic with their manager committing until 2025.

Arsenal finally got off the mark with a win against Norwich last weekend. But despite having 30 shots over the 90 minutes they still failed to convince. Manager Mikel Arteta won’t care a jot. At home to Norwich was all about the result and so to today’s game. But with a porous midfield and a disjointed attack defining the start of the season, Arteta may find his delicate green shoots trampled by disgruntled fans.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche committed to the club he’s been with since 2012 with a four-year contract this week. He’s had better times at Turf Moor but a slow start won’t faze him and he’ll be relishing the chance to put some points on the board against Arsenal today. He’s issued a robust reminder that despite criticism of Burnley’s physicality from Jurgen Klopp and Rafa Benitez, his side has gone 97 games without a red card. Expect something similarly hearty today.
