Chelsea manager Graham Potter went into the Premier League clash against Premier League strugglers Leeds United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday with pressure on his shoulders following an indifferent run of form. After a tough first half, Wesley Fofana eased the pressure on his manager by scoring the goal that set the Blues on the way to three points.

'We're delighted with the win' - Potter chuffed after Chelsea beat Leeds

Chelsea beat Leeds United 1-0 thanks to a Wesley Fofana header that put an end to their winless run.
The Blues started the first half well, playing on the front foot and moving the ball with speed and purpose. Graham Potter's side worked the ball well into the wide areas, with Ben Chilwell and Ruben Loftus-Cheek both getting into areas to deliver crosses into the box.
Joao Felix had Chelsea's biggest chance of the first half after 22 minutes, the ball was cut back to the Portugal international and he smacked a first-time effort from outside the box which crashed off the crossbar.
Leeds grew into the game as the half went on, getting on the ball more frequently but without fashioning any clear-cut chances. Chelsea's intensity had faded and they started to look more like the Chelsea of recent weeks.
Potter clearly got his message across at the interval because the west London side emerged for the second half in the same manner they started the first. They were positive on the ball and once more playing with high intensity as they looked to break down the Leeds defence and open the scoring.
It took Chelsea just eight minutes of the second half to find the back of the net, Chilwell put in a high corner and Fofana rose highest to thunder his header past Illan Meslier. Fofana had a similar chance in the first half which went over the bar but he made no mistake with this attempt.
Leeds pushed in search of an equaliser, committing bodies forward and getting into good areas. Javi Gracia's side though struggled to find the right final ball, often deliberating in the final third and generally lacking conviction.
Chelsea held on to record their first Premier League win since January and it's a result which slightly relieves the pressure on manager Graham Potter.

TALKING POINT - BACK TO WINNING WAYS

This could be a victory that Chelsea use as a springboard to start picking up points and move further up the Premier League table. They had to be resolute, particularly in the second half but Potter's side got over the line with three points in the bag. The Blues will be desperate for this to be the start of some good form and not a false dawn. They have a home tie against Borussia Dortmund to come in the Champions League knowing they need a win, then they have two winnable games as they face struggling sides back to back in Leicester City and Everton in the Premier League. March could prove to be a decisive month for the club.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - WESLEY FOFANA (CHELSEA)

The French defender was brilliant for Chelsea. He came close to giving the Blues the lead in the first half but made up for it by scoring the winner. He was utterly dominant in the air, winning all five of the aerial duels he contested. His passing was crisp and accurate - particularly his long passing, helping Chelsea move up the pitch and into attacking areas.
