Arsenal to let Pires go

Contract talks between Arsenal and Robert Pires have broken down with the Frenchman now poised to leave Highbury this summer. Pires wants a two-year extension to his current contract which expires at the end of next season but the Gunners are only prepare
"He will be 33 next year and we will go from year to year," coach Arsene Wenger had said of Pires in April, despite the former Marseille player scoring 17 goals in his side's run to second spot in the Premiership last season.
The club may now decide to cash in on the France midfielder rather than lose him for nothing in 2006 with both Valencia and Lyon amongst a host of clubs interested in his services.
