Derby County target Dusan Svento, who tore knee ligaments during a trial against Macclesfield last week, has said that he can avoid surgery and resurrect his move to England.
Slavia Prague and Slovakia left-sided midfielder Svento has since returned to the Czech Republic.
"It is not clear yet if I will go [into surgery] or not," he told Sport. "Now there are two weeks of rehabilitation ahead of me and after them we will see if the situation has changed.
"There is a chance to avoid it. The knee can work without the ligament.
"I cannot say if I will undergo it or not. What the doctor told me I forgot after two minutes. I have been in shock."
Asked whether he had heard anything from Derby following the incident, he replied:
"So far I have not spoken to anyone. My agent discusses everything with them so they certainly know my situation.
"I don't know how they will react. It is unpleasant for me, it will be unpleasant for them as well: that is how things are.
"Of course it would make me feel sorry if had surgery and could not play for six months. But there is nothing I can do about it now.
"It simply happened and I will have to face up to it."
