Varane promises Real Madrid stay

There is expected to be plenty of movement In the Spanish capital this summer after Zinedine Zidane's men suffered a disappointing season in which they finished a distant third in La Liga and suffered a shock defeat to Ajax in the Champions League round of 16.

However, Varane says he will be there for the rebuild and promised to improve his personal performances after he suffered a drop in form.

"I am going to remain [at Real Madrid] next season as I'm sure that we're going to respond in a strong manner," Varane told Marca.

"[This season] we fought and tried hard, but we can't blame anything as it's true that we missed that spark in difficult moments, and I haven't been at my best level but we are going to see the best Varane again.

"We have to evolve and Zidane knows that."We have to re-build and change things as we look to restart a new cycle."

Varane has been a mainstay in the Real Madrid side since making his breakthrough in the 2012-13 season.
