Real Madrid 'offer Gareth Bale to Tottenham'

Gareth Bale has been offered to Spurs, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to swing the axe, Leroy Sane could join Bayern Munich and Antoine Griezmann is set for Barcelona.

Real plan to send Bale to Spurs
Gareth Bale could return to Tottenham Hotspur, but only on loan. Real Madrid have made it clear to the 29-year-old Welsh international that he is not in Zinedine Zidane's plans for next season, and they are willing to subsidise his wages in order to send him out on loan. They would expect a £10 million loan fee for Bale, who has been regularly booed by the Real fans this season, and Spurs are considering the option, say the Sun.

Paper Round's view: Bringing in Bale on reduced wages, and for just £10 million, could appeal to both Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino. They would gain a star player in their squad to help push them on to higher things, but a short-term deal on cheaper wages would reduce the risk of regular injuries blighting his contributions to the side.
Solskjaer tells squad he will sell half of them
The Sun also reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer threatened his Manchester United players with the axe after their 2-0 defeat to Cardiff City at Old Trafford on Sunday. He told the players in the dressing room that he would be prepared to sell half of the squad due to their under-performance and poor attitude in the second half of his term as manager. He then pointed out they need Manchester City to beat Watford so that their pre-season plans are not thrown into disarray.

Paper Round's view: From a purely cynical point of view, City rolling over against Watford would be a good way of disrupting United's playing and business operations, but of course that would be beneath Pep Guardiola. As for United, other reports suggest Solskjaer is already banned from selling Anthony Martial, one of United's most talented but least committed players, so City probably don't need to do anything in order to see United to continue to struggle.
Bayern ready for Sane transfer
The Daily Record carries a story that suggests that Bayern Munich are ready to sign Manchester City's Leroy Sane. The 23-year-old German international winger has a contract that runs out in 2021 and City do not want to let him leave for free, so have given the German club permission to talk to Sane's representatives. Bayern had been interested in Nicolas Pepe of Lille, which could see him move to Manchester United instead.

Paper Round's view: Pepe seems like a promising player who would be far more affordable than Sane, but from Bayern's point of view, in order to replace Franck Ribery or Arjen Robben, they could use a proven player with a history of impressing in the Champions League and in the Premier League. City have limitless funds due to their sponsorship deals, so don't need to stress over being able to afford a replacement.
Departing Griezmann set for Barcelona
Antoine Griezmann announced last night that he would be leaving Atletico Madrid in the summer, after trailing the decision over his future every summer for what seems like the last five years. The Daily Mail thinks that the 28-year-old French international will be on his way to Barcelona. The Spanish champions have decided to meet the £104 million asking price after falling apart in the Champions League against Liverpool.

Paper Round's view: Griezmann will, at least, finally stop making films about himself deciding what to do with his career every year. For Atletico they can raise a huge amount of money to replace a player who is probably not going to improve any further. For Barcelona, they get an excellent forward to replace Luis Suarez or Lionel Messi over the long term. How he fits into their style is not quite clear, given he is far more direct than Barcelona's current style.
