Robert Lewandowski hat-trick v the fastest hat-tricks ever in world football
Poland's Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick in less than four minutes on Saturday - but how does his feat compare to the best ever?
Lewandowski completed his hat-trick in three minutes 59 seconds, turning a nervy 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifier victory into a 4-0 thumping of Georgia in the dying moments of the game.
The first goal came in the 89th minute and the next two in injury time, narrowly missing out on the Euro qualifier hat-trick record of Arif Erdem of Turkey, who scored three in three minutes against Northern Ireland back in 1999.

Fastest Premier League / English top flight hat-trick: The record belongs to Sadio Mane (176 seconds), who just a few weeks ago on 16th May 2015 beat Robbie Fowler's (273 secs) record set when he smashed three goals past Arsenal in four minutes 33 seconds in August 1994.

Yet Mane's effort beat both, wiping Leggat and Fowler off the record books.
Fastest Football League hat-trick: Perhaps the most extraordinary story of the lot, Bournemouth brought James Hayter (140 secs) on as a sub against Wrexham in February 2004 with just six minutes left of the match. Two minutes 20 seconds later he had bagged a treble. Unfortunately, his family missed it: they'd been at the match, but had left with 10 minutes to go assuming that he wouldn't get a run out. Whoops!

Fastest ever hat-trick: Magnus Arvidsson (89 secs) scored three goals in under a minute and a half for Hassleholm against Landskrona in a Swedish second tier match in 1995. "You don't forget that sort of thing in a hurry," Arvidsson who beat the keeper in one-on-ones as he helped his team come from behind to win 5-3 and avoid relegation. "There was hardly time to kick off between the goals!" Arvidsson laughed afterwards.
Official fastest ever hat-trick: Tommy Ross (90 secs) of Ross County scored a quickfire treble in a match against Nairn in November 1964. He was 18 years old at the time, but didn't enter it for inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records for 40 years: the goalkeeper was the only official timekeeper that day so he assumed he was ineligible, but Guinness credit the Scot (rather than Arvidsson) with the feat.
Fastest Champions League hat-trick: Bafetimbi Gomis (7 minutes) scored three for Lyon against Dinamo Zagreb in December 2011. The goals were either side of half-time, however, so you may prefer to credit Blackburn's Mike Newell (9 minutes), who scored three against Rosenborg at Ewood Park in 1995. Newell's was also a rare 'perfect hat trick', namely one with the right foot, one with the left and one with the head.

Fastest hat-trick for England: England's Willie Hall (4 minutes) scored five times in a 7-0 demolition of Northern Ireland in November 1938.
Fastest international hat-trick. Abdul Hamid Bassiouny (155 secs) of Egypt set this record against Namibia in a 2002 World Cup qualifier.
Hat-trick of hat-tricks: Bournemouth's Ted MacDougall put nine goals - yes, nine - past Margate in an 11-0 win in an FA Cup first round match in November 1971. "I was disappointed as I thought I should have got 11," MacDougall later laughed.
Goalkeeper's hat-trick: Scoring three in a match when you've no business being up the other end of the pitch has only been done once (not counting the days of playing rush goalie in the playground). Paraguayan legend Jose Chilavert was the man, who scored all three (disappointingly, all from the penalty spot) for Velez Sarsfield against Ferro Carril Oeste in November 1999.

Fastest overseas top flight hat-trick: Eduardo Maglioni scored three goals in one minute 50 seconds for Independiente against Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata in their Argentine top flight clash in March 1973.
Fastest Bundesliga hat-trick: Michael Tonnies scored three goals in five minutes for MSV Duisburg against Karlsruher in August 1991. He'd never scored in the German top flight before, ended up with 13 goals that season, and never scored in the Bundesliga again for the rest of his career.
Fastest Turkish hat-trick: Mateja Kezman scored three in four minutes for Fenerbahce against Alanyaspor in January 2008.
