Basement side Malaga held onto a valuable 1-1 draw at Eibar to end a run of four successive LaLiga defeats despite being reduced to 10 men.
The visitors took the half-time lead through Youssef En Nesyri‘s composed finish but Kike levelled with a neat first-time strike after 76 minutes before substitute Zdravko Kuzmanovic saw red in stoppage-time.
Eibar stared positively and almost took the lead through Jose Angel’s strike from the edge of the box, while Adrian fired straight at home goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic at the other end.
Malaga took a shock lead when En Nesyri pounced on a weak pass from Ander Capa to race clear through on goal before showing composure to beat Dmitrovic at his near post and put the visitors ahead after 16 minutes with his first goal of the season.
The visitors looked set to earn their first win in five games but former Manchester United forward Bebe helped Eibar get back on level terms when the substitute’s cross was converted at the near post by Kike with 14 minutes left.
Kike spurned a great opportunity to give Eibar the lead before Malaga forward Keko fired straight at Dmitrovic in stoppage time.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men when Kuzmanovic received two cautions in the space of one minute, but Albicelestes held on for a share of the spoils.
