Scotland boss Alex McLeish believes Rangers target Allan McGregor has “plenty of mileage” left in his career.
Rangers are understood to have held talks over a possible return to Ibrox for the Hull goalkeeper, who is out of contract in the summer.
The 36-year-old has played 43 Sky Bet Championship games this season and McLeish selected him for his first two matches back in charge of Scotland last month.
And the former Rangers boss – who gave McGregor his Light Blues debut – is sure the goalkeeper can continue playing at the highest level for several more years.
After launching the Scottish Football Hall of Fame nominations process, McLeish said: “He was in excellent form in the Hungary game and his training throughout that double header was of a really high standard.
“Some goalkeepers have gone on to 40. From what I have seen in his training and his expertise in that game, it just tells you experience is forever.
“I think he has got plenty of mileage in him right now.”
