The 33-year-old stopper will see his current contract at Parkhead expire at the end of next season but is keen to earn a new deal with his displays on the pitch.
He said: "I hope to win a new deal with Celtic and I think I still have the ability to do that.
"I will prove myself this season by playing up the standard I expect of myself over the coming months."
Pressley joined Celtic mid-way through last season after having effectively been sacked by Hearts for heading a players' revolt at Tynecastle, but his wealth of experience has made him a prime candidate for the Celtic captaincy next term.
He added: "There are a handful of possible captains within the squad at Celtic Park," he said.
"I know that in my favour is the fact that I have the experience to set the right example to the younger players."
