Juventus have signed Italy defender Andrea Barzagli from Wolfsburg on a permanent deal.

The former Palermo defender has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract after three years in Germany.

"Barzagli is officially a Juventus player," the Bianconeri said on their website.

"The defender trained today with his new team-mates but will not feature in today's Coppa Italia match against Roma."

Barzagli , 29, will vie for a first-team place with fellow Azzurri defenders Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.

The 2006 World Cup winner is expected to make his debut in Sunday's Serie A match against Udinese.
