A lacklustre Roma performance allowed Lazio to run out as 3-0 winners in the Derby della Capitale on Saturday night.
Lazio were starting without Ciro Immobile, but Felipe Caceido made up for his absence with a smart finish as Roma’s defence - missing Kostas Manolas - failed to offer any resistance in the early stages of the game.
Edin Dzeko brought a good stop from Thomas Strakosha, but the nominal home, who could cut the gap on their city rivals to three points with a win, remained in control.
In the second half, Roma put increasing amounts of pressure as they chased an equaliser, but found Strakosha in fine form before Javier Pastore missed from close range from a superb chance.
Seconds later, substitute Immobile’s through ball for Joaquin Correa won the home side a penalty which the Italian converted to seal victory, and just before full time Danilo Cataldi made it three, before Aleksandar Kolarov saw red for two late yellow cards.

TALKING POINT

Roma could not cope without Manolas: Without him the center of defence was strikingly lacking in pace, and that caused both the first and second goal. Eusebio Di Francesco will hope for a quick return in time for their trip to Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Joaquin Correa (Lazio): His pass set up Caceido for the opener, and his direct running for Immobile’s through ball won the penalty for the second. He might not have been a constant presence on the pitch, but his contributions were vital.

PLAYER RATINGS

Lazio: Strakosha 7, Radu 6, Acerbi 6, Bastos 6, Leiva 7, Luis Alberto 6, Milinkovic 6, Lulic 6, Marusic 6, Caicedo 7, Correa 8. Subs: Immobile 7, Cataldi 7.
Roma: Olsen 5, Florenzi 6, Fazio 5, Juan Jesus 6, Kolarov 5, Cristante 5, De Rossi 5, Pellegrini 6, Zaniolo 6, Dzeko 5, El Shaarawy 5. Subs: Perotti 6, Pastore 5, Schick 6.

KEY EVENT

2’ - CORREA SHOT - Correa sidefoots a half-volley at goal from the edge of the box, but it sails a couples of yards over.
12’ - GOAL! Lazio 1-0 Roma. Caceido scores - Correa spins, saunters past Fazio and slips in Caceido, who slots the ball past the 'keeper with ease. That was sloppy stuff from the defence.
71’ - PENALTY! Correa is set down the middle to chase a ball towards goal, Fazio hacks at him to send him to ground, and that could be it.
73’ - GOAL! Lazio 2-0 Roma. Immobile scores - The substitute striker rifles in a low shot at goal, it clips against Olsen but still finds the net.
89’ - GOAL! Lazio 3-0 Roma. Cataldi scores - A wonderful goal to round off the game. Cataldi receives the ball from Milinkovic-Savic, 25 yards out, and he curls in a shot past Olsen, who flapped at it but was beaten by a fierce shot.
90+4’ - RED CARD! Kolarov gets a second yellow, what a ridiculous effort there. A second yellow in about 60 seconds for catching Immobile, but he barely touched him.
