Here come Genoa again. AC Milan have barely touched the ball in the last five minutes or so. The hosts have also struggled to get out on the counter, but they're almost there.
AC Milan just can't get hold of the ball at the moment. This one isn't done yet. Genoa are enjoying their best period of the whole match. Can they create one final opportunity?
There will be three minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the match.
Genoa are really giving this a go now. This will be a real test for AC Milan in the final few minutes of this match. They have been vulnerable at the San Siro recently. Can they hold firm?
- OffKevin StrootmanGenoa
- OnValon BehramiGenoa
Another change for the away side as Behrami comes on for the final few moments.
Off the line.. TWICE! So close to another equaliser for Genoa! Donnarumma dropped a cross, but Kjaer and Tomori get back on the line to make not one, but TWO clearances! Wow! That was a big moment!
Genoa are finally gambling and are sending a number of players forward. That could leave space in behind for AC Milan to expose on the rapid counter attack. Entertaining!
AC Milan have had great success in targeting young players who have been cast aside by other big clubs. Hernandez, to give one example. Diaz, to give another. Can they keep this strategy going?
PICTURE: Are AC Milan on their way to a win?
Calhanoglu tests the keeper! The AC Milan midfielder gets the shot away from outside the box, but Perin does just enough to deal with it, collecting at the second attempt. There was swerve on that!
Into the final 10 minutes at the San Siro. Can Genoa create a few more opportunities to threaten the AC Milan goal? The home side look to be in control at the moment.
Donnarumma isn’t just seen as one of the best goalkeepers in European football right, he was supposed to be AC Milan’s leader for a generation. Is he really going to leave?
One of the big stories around AC Milan right now concerns Donnarumma’s contract. The goalkeeper could be on his way out of the club this summer as discussions over a new deal have stalled.
- OffFrancesco CassataGenoa
- OnGoran PandevGenoa
And here comes the veteran Pandev for the away side. Can he make a difference?
- OffGianluca ScamaccaGenoa
- OnEldor ShomurodovGenoa
A change for Genoa as they look for a way back into the match - Shomurodov is on.
- OffIsmaël BennacerAC Milan
- OnSandro TonaliAC Milan
Another change for the home side and Tonali comes on for the final 15 minutes.
Effort from Rebic! The Croatian gets on the end of a cross into the box, it was an acrobatic attempt, but Perin makes the solid save at his near post to deny Milan a third goal.
This summer will be an important one for AC Milan if they are to continue their development under Pioli. Juventus will surely be stronger next season so things will only get tougher.
This season has made clear AC Milan still have a lot of work to do if they are to get back to the top of the Italian game. Even with Juve off the pace, they have been left behind by Inter.
There’s no doubting that Pioli has done more than anyone in AC Milan’s recent history to take the club back to the top of the Italian game. They have had a good season so far.
The run of Mandzukic to the front post was a good one and that was what created the chaos inside the Genoa penalty area that resulted in the goal. The hosts are back in front!
- Own-goalGianluca ScamaccaGenoa
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! AC Milan 2 (68 mins - Gianluca Scamacca OG) Genoa 1. AC Milan have the lead again and the ball has been bundled in from a a corner kick! Was it Mandzukic who got the final touch? It might have actually been an own goal from Scamacca who turned his back on the ball. He took his eye off it at the wrong time!
Can Mandzukic make any sort of difference for AC Milan up front? Leao was really disappointing this afternoon. He spurned the opportunity to prove himself as a true number nine.
- OffRafael LeãoAC Milan
- OnMario MandzukicAC Milan
... and Pioli has also made a change in attack with Mandzukic on for Leao.
- OffAlexis SaelemaekersAC Milan

... Brahim has been introduced for Saelemaekers...
- OffPierre KaluluAC Milan
- OnDiogo DalotAC Milan
Changes for the home side as Dalot comes on for the impressive Kalulu...
The feeling around Milan right now...
Kjaer comes close! The Danish centre back gets up high to meet a corner kick delivery into the Genoa box, but he heads just inches wide of the post with Perin stood still on his line.
Scamacca goes for goal! The space opened up for Genoa on the break, Scamacca had options, but he takes the shot on from distance and Donnarumma watches it flash wide.
It's just not happening for Leao at the moment. This was a big chance for the Portuguese forward to prove he could lead the line for Milan in the absence of Ibrahimovic.
PICTURE: Still level at the San Siro
- OffMattia DestroGenoa
- OnMarko PjacaGenoa
And a second change for the away side sees Destro come off to be replaced by Pjaca.
- OffPaolo GhiglioneGenoa
- OnDavide BiraschiGenoa
A change for Genoa as Ghiglione is hooked for Biraschi off the bench.
Kessie shoots wide! The space opened up for the AC Milan midfielder in the centre of the pitch, but that was never going to truly trouble Perin in the Genoa goal. Flashes well wide.
This has been a very open start to the second half. Genoa aren't just protecting what they already have. They recognise there might be a chance to get a second goal here!
PICTURE: Destro headed an equaliser
Quite incredible that Rebic wasn't able to take that opportunity moments ago. The ball fell to the right person inside the box, but the strike from the Croatian was a wild one.
REBIC... miles over! Wow! What a chance for AC Milan to regain the lead! The ball fell to Rebic inside the area, but the Croatian somehow managed to blast over from about six yards out!
Ballardini made no fewer than six changes to the team that lost to Juventus last weekend. Genoa might have left Turin without a point, but they at least showed some fight.
There is no Zappacosta for Genoa this afternoon. The former Chelsea man is out through injury. Will the away side miss the experience of the full back in this second half?
Pioli will want to see more from his players in this second period. AC Milan looked to have taken a grip of the contest after opening the scoring, but allowed Genoa back in.
The second half is under way! It's 1-1 between AC Milan and Genoa in this Serie A fixture.
- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: AC Milan 1-1 Genoa. Rebic's opener looked to have set AC Milan on their way, but Destro's equaliser pegged back the home side. An interesting first 45 minutes.
There will be just one minute of stoppage time played at the end of the first half.
Shot wide! That was a decent move from AC Milan on the edge of the box, but Saelemakers' shot picks up a deflection and spins wide of the target. That was much better.
AC Milan have lost their way into the attacking third of the pitch. They were creating good opportunities about 10/15 minutes ago, but Genoa now look firm at the back.
That goal has completely changed the complexion of this match. I said Genoa were likely to get a chance to score one of their goal and so it proved against this vulnerable AC Milan side.
PICTURE: Rebic opened the scoring
The defending from AC Milan for that equaliser was so poor. It was actually Tomori who allowed Destro to get free inside the box. The forward did well to control his header.
- GoalMattia DestroGenoa
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! AC Milan 1 Genoa 1 (37 mins - Mattia Destro). An equaliser for the away side! Destro is on the move inside the penalty area, times his run well and heads a corner kick delivery into the back of the net! Such a disappointing goal for AC Milan to concede. Back on level terms at the San Siro!
Genoa held their own for much of last weekend’s away match against Juventus, but were eventually overpowered by the better team. This has been another tough test for them today!
Indeed, the AC Milan defence is now being tested with a number of balls over the top. Genoa are trying to release Destro into space in behind. Theo deals with this particular pass.
There is a sense that AC Milan need to tighten things up at the back slightly. Genoa are having more joy on the counter attack. Pioli won't want to give the away team anything.
Straight at the keeper! That was a decent chance for Destro as he burst into the AC Milan box, but his shot from the tight angle is saved by Donnarumma. It was going to be tough to beat him from there.
There's no doubt AC Milan have been the better team in this first half so far, but Genoa will surely fancy their chances of creating an opportunity at some point. They have to take it.
- Yellow cardEdoardo GoldanigaGenoa
Goldaniga is shown the first yellow card of the match for a late tackle on Bennacer.
Rebic was trying to find Leao in the middle with a scooped cross into the middle, but there were too many bodies between him and the Portuguese forward. The clearance is made.
Leao opportunity! The Portuguese forward had the pace to burst into the Genoa penalty area, but just as it looked like he was about to get a shot away or play a pass he miscontrols the ball.
Rather remarkably, AC Milan haven’t won a match at home since February. Can they break that streak this afternoon? Pioli’s side still have work to do to secure their place in the top four!
Strootman is back for Genoa having served a suspension of his own. The Dutch midfielder hasn’t had much luck with injuries over the years, but he’s an experienced operator.
Chance for Leao! The passing move from AC Milan creates the shooting opportunity for Leao inside the box, but his effort is straight at Perin! Leao appeared to slip as he struck it!
This is a bit better from Genoa. While they aren't exactly pressing higher on AC Milan, they do seem to be getting more bodies around the home side when they have the ball.
PICTURE: Battle at the San Siro
That was a chance for Genoa to create something in the AC Milan penalty area, but the corner kick delivery from Zajc was really poor. It didn't even beat the first man at the front post!
How will Genoa respond to going behind? They have offered very little so far in an attacking sense. They will need to play higher up the pitch now they are trailing in this match.
AC Milan find the back of the net with their first real chance of the match. Rebic has now scored seven goals for the season and that was one of his best so far. Struck it so cleanly.
- GoalAnte RebicAC Milan
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! AC Milan 1 (14 mins - Ante Rebic) Genoa 0. My word! What an incredible strike to open the scoring! Theo's freekick hits the top of the wall, the ball is then retrieved by Rebic 16 yards out and the Croatian arrows a shot into the back of the net! He struck that with so much power! Perin stood no chance!
It must be said, this very much has the feel of an early kick off. AC Milan have been the dominant team in terms of their share of the ball, but not a great deal of energy from either side.
Genoa have struggled to get Destro into the game in the early exchanges. They attempted to release him in behind with a ball over the top, but the flag was up for offside.
There’s no sign of Ibrahimovic for AC Milan this morning. The Swedish striker was sent off against Parma last weekend and so he is suspended for this match. Will AC Milan miss him?
Lots of possession for AC Milan as they feel their way into this match. Genoa are having to do a lot of chasing, although they are well-drilled at the back. Tough to play through so far.
First shot on goal! There's the first attempt from either side and it's AC Milan who register it. However, Theo puts his low left-footed strike well wide of the far post. Not troubling Perin.
Ballardini has made a big impact since coming in at Genoa. The club looked to be in serious trouble near the foot of the Serie A table, but they might now be safe from the drop.
Genoa have only managed 11 goals in games away from home this season. They are actually the lowest scorers in Serie A this season when it comes to matches on their travels.
Rebic is still down as the ball is put out of play. The AC Milan winger looks fine to continue although he took a sore one to the side of the head as he went up for the ball.
It's been a good start for AC Milan. They are the ones controlling possession in the early stages. Rebic has taken a blow to the head early on as he went up for an aerial challenge.
What sort of match will we get this morning/afternoon? Can AC Milan finish the 2020/21 season strongly having falling off the pace being set by Inter at the top of Serie A?
The match is under way at the San Siro! It's AC Milan against Genoa in this Serie A fixture!
Okay, here we go. We are about to get under way at the San Siro. Kick off is just moments away.
AC Milan tend to struggle against Genoa. Can they improve on their recent record against them today?
Not long until kick off at the San Siro. The two groups of substitutes have taken their seat in the stands.
Genoa are ready!
For Genoa, this match is about picking up points to boost their already good chances of survival. They are most likely safe with a seven-point cushion on the bottom three, but even still.
With Inter holding an 11-point lead at the top of the table, the Serie A title race is most likely over, but AC Milan still have some work to do to secure their place in the top four places.

No Zlatan! There's no Ibrahimovic for AC Milan this afternoon so it's Leao who leads the line for Pioli here. The Swedish striker is out through suspension. Will his team miss him?
