BELO HORIZONTE, May 18 (Reuters) - Two goals from their South American imports helped Atletico Mineiro to a 2-1 win over Flamengo in Saturday's Brazilian league clash in Belo Horizonte.
Ecuadoran Juan Cazares put the home side ahead 28 minutes into the match after some poor defending by Flamengo but Bruno Henrique equalised with a right-foot strike just two minutes later.
Even without Elias, sent off seconds before half time, Atletico edged ahead again, with Colombian Yimmi Chara volleying home from an acute angle a minute into the second period.
Although Flamengo had the lion's share of possession they could not find another equaliser and so Atletico took the three points that moved them into second place in the Serie A, a point behind defending champions Palmeiras. (Reporting by Andrew Downie; Editing by Greg Stutchbury)
