Player mutiny cost Mourinho his job

We begin with the back page of The Express which says that the atmosphere at Manchester United had got so bad under Jose Mourinho that a number of players were preparing to instruct their agents to find new clubs in January. This potential mutiny forced Ed Woodward to act and led to Mourinho's sacking on Tuesday.
Paper Round's view: Just another damning story that has come out from United over the past few days since Mourinho was fired. It was obvious to all that things were not well at Old Trafford so this shouldn't really come as too much of a surprise. However it should also be a warning to any club thinking about hiring Mourinho given the remarkable parallels between this current situation and when he left Chelsea.

Sanchez wins bet on Mourinho sacking

We move to the back page of The Sun which has an exclusive which says that Alexis Sanchez sent the following message to a WhatsApp group of United players after Mourinho's sacking - "I told you so!! Patience is all it takes. Rojo you owe me £20k."
Paper Round's view: This is absolutely astonishing. Of course you imagine that there may be far more that goes on in players' private circles that the public will never be privy to but even still this is remarkable. Something to keep an eye on in the coming days for certain, if indeed it is true.

Mourinho angry with United board

We now have a story from The Mail which says that Mourinho is upset with the United board as he feels they caved in to pressure from former players in the media who criticised him. Mourinho also feels let down by the operations within the club as he feels the club was not as well run as he would have expected.
Paper Round's view: The number of administrative errors during Mourinho's time at United were worryingly numerous but this does feel awfully like the Portuguese trying to paint his own picture in the media. There are many reasons why he was fired from United but he is the primary cause.

Mourinho wanted by three clubs

And we end our Mourinho-athon with a report that he is currently wanted by three clubs, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Benfica, all former clubs. It is unclear which club Mourinho would move to, as no offer has been forthcoming as of yet, but he is reportedly confident of returning to work.
Paper Round's view: Forgive Paper Round for the Mourinho-centric round-up this morning but frankly there's no other story in football for the time being. It's hard to see Mourinho following any other pattern than the one he has done throughout his career but it is certainly going to be amusing to watch him try to do something different.
