TOP 11 TRANSFER STORIES

1-Moussa Sissoko - Newcastle to Everton

This one has to smart. Everton were ready and waiting for the player - but he turned his phone off to avoid all contact with them and went to Tottenham instead. Poor Everton. They even had transport waiting to whisk him away to Liverpool.

2-Cesc Fabregas - Chelsea to Milan

Apparently Fabregas was "offered" to Milan earlier today - presumably they weren't that keen on him. (Eurosport)

3-Axel Witsel - Zenit St Petersburg to Juventus

Witsel has been with Juventus for the vast majority of the day, a medical had been passed and a fee had been agreed but Zenit kept holding out until they had a replacement - who never arrived. He'll have to wait until the summer, when he can move on a free. (Eurosport)

4-Romain Thomas - Angers to West Brom

The agent of the French defender confirmed that the club had rejected West Brom's bid. (Eurosport)

5-Juan Iturbe - Roma to Lyon

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas followed the Argentinean winger on Twitter, but apparently that wasn't enough to seal the deal. (Eurosport)

6-Daniel Sturridge - Liverpool to Arsenal

Reports suggested that the player's agent was looking to get him a move while his club flatly refused to countenance the idea. (Eurosport)

7-Mathieu Debuchy - Arsenal to Espanyol

He might be unlikely to get in the Arsenal side any time soon, but he turned down the chance to join Espanyol. (Eurosport)

8-Danny Simpson - Leicester to West Ham

The champions never wanted to let him go, and will reward his loyalty with a new contract. (Mirror)

9-Yacine Brahimi - Porto to Everton

£34m plus a sell-on clause wasn't enough for the Portuguese club. (Mirror)

10-Aymen Abdennour - Valencia to Chelsea

This fell through once it became evident that David Luiz would be heading back to Stamford Bridge. (The Sun)

11-Yaya Sanogo - Arsenal to Leeds (loan)

Arsene Wenger blocked this move so he can keep his attacking options open. (The Sun)

WEDNESDAY'S COMPLETED DEALS

Marcos Alonso - Fiorentina to Chelsea
Jason Denayer - Manchester City to Sunderland
Allan Nyom - Watford to West Brom
Andre Wisdom - Liverpool to Red Bull Salzburg (loan)
Juan Cuadrado - Chelsea to Juventus (loan)
