Potter admits Chelsea form needs consistency

David Datro Fofana has completed his transfer to Chelsea from Norwegian side Molde FK.
The Blues have also confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama.
The Premier League club announced in late December that they had a pre-agreement in place for Fofana, and the formalities of the deal have now been completed. He has signed a contract through to 2029, with an option for a further year.
“Chelsea Football Club has finalised the transfer of David Datro Fofana from Norwegian champions Molde, with the young striker signing a contract until 2029 with an option to extend for a further year,” read a statement on Chelsea’s website.
The 20-year-old has scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists in 65 appearances in all competitions for the Norwegian side after moving to Molde from the Amadou Diallo Football Academy in 2021.
“Hello dear fans, I’m here, I’ve arrived well and I’m very happy to sign for the club of my dreams. I’ll see you soon on the pitch, cheers!” said Fofana to Chelsea’s official website.
Confirmation from Chelsea of the reported £13m move for Santos comes 24 hours after Vasco da Gama announced the player's departure.
Santos featured 33 times for the Brazilian side in Serie B this past season, scoring eight goals as he helped the club to promotion.
On signing for Chelsea, he said: "It’s a very big opportunity for me. This is a big club playing in big competitions like the Premier League so I am very excited. The players here are so good and I am very happy to be here."
Fofana could soon find a place in Chelsea’s side given they have lost Armando Broja to a season-ending injury and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not in the best run of form.
It is expected that Santos will either go into the club's development squad or be sent out on loan for experience.
Chelsea are currently in the midst of an injury crisis with N'Golo Kante, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Edouard Mendy, Mason Mount, Ben Chilwell, Armando Broja, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic all out injured.
Fofana and Santos are the latest recruits at Stamford Bridge this January following the arrival of Benoit Badiashile from Monaco.
Chelsea currently sit 10th in the Premier League table on 25 points following 17 matches. They are 10 points shy of Manchester United who currently occupy fourth spot. Arsenal lead the table on 44 points.
