Inter Miami are desperate to bring Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina striker Lionel Messi in on a free transfer this summer, while Manchester United have a shortlist of striking targets headed up by Tottenham forward Harry Kane. Elsewhere, Newcastel United are tracking Fleetwood Town goalkeeper Stephen McMullan, and JJ Watt is in talks to invest in Burnley.

Lionel Messi a target for Inter Miami

Inter Miami remain desperate to make a successful move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Lionel Messi, who is available on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The 35-year-old Argentine is in talks to remain at Parc des Princes but nothing has been agreed yet.
“Lionel Messi's future is still up in the air following Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League elimination at the hands of Bayern Munich earlier this week,” Spanish newspaper Marca reports.
“The Argentina captain has yet to agree on a contract extension and he has been linked with a move to MLS side Inter Miami, co-owned by Manchester United legend David Beckham.
“Meanwhile, MLS commissioner Don Garber has stressed that clubs have the flexibility to look for new formulas to convince and lure stars to the league.”

Manchester United keen on on Kane

With Harry Kane approaching the last few years of his career, the Mirror believes that he is top of Manchester United’s list of striking targets, with Wout Weghorst not a permanent solution to lead the line, and Anthony Martial expected to depart in the summer.
The paper states: “United boss Erik ten Hag is on red alert as he searches for the final piece of the jigsaw at Old Trafford and he has decided England’s skipper is that man. The Spurs’ striker will be on the market after yet another campaign of disappointment with the north Londoners.
“United have been inspired by the success of Casemiro’s move last summer. The Brazilian was aged 30 when he completed his move to Old Trafford last year – while Kane will celebrate his 30th birthday in July.
“Casemiro has proven to be a catalyst in United's upturn in form this seasons – they are third in the Premier League, into the FA Cup quarter finals, remain strongly placed in the Europa League and won the EFL Cup, their first piece of silverware in six seasons.
“United also hold great admiration for Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos and Mohammed Kudus, whom Ten Hag coached at Ajax. Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is thought to be a key target this summer, but the Nigerian’s price tag may prove excessive.”

Newcastle scouting young ‘keeper

The Sun reports that Newcastle United are looking to add to their goalkeeping roster, as they track Fleetwood’s teenager Stephen McMullan. They were recently forced to play Loris Karius in the Carabao Cup and could now reinforce their options.
“The hot prospect, 18, has appeared for both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland at youth level,” the report explains.
“Toon chiefs have made contact and hope to offer McMullan a path to the first team.
“He has yet to play for the Cod Army but could fetch a decent fee and there may be a bidding war before summer.”

JJ Watt linked with Burnley investment

NFL star JJ Watt, who recently announced his retirement, is looking to invest in Burnley, according to reports.
Watt would join a number of American sports stars with stakes in clubs in Britain, and with Vincent Kompany in charge at Turf Moor, they could be back in the Premier League soon.
The Mail claims: “The star defensive end, who announced his retirement on December 27, was reportedly in Burnley on Friday meeting with club officials and also met with students at Burnley College.
“Watt, whose wife Kealia is a professional soccer player, was pictured donning a Clarets scarf during the visit, and has previously indicated his desire to invest in a soccer club.
“He told Front Office Sports last year that he was 'definitely' interested in owning a piece of a soccer club, and has been pictured on several occasions watching Burnley matches on TV at his home.”
