Everton left it late to give David Moyes his first new signing since returning to the club. Carlos Alcaraz moved to Goodison Park on loan from Brazilian side Flamengo with the option to buy on Deadline Day, marking a Premier League return just half a season after leaving Southampton. "He’s still young and we believe he can bring some energy to the team," Moyes said of the Argentine.

Carlos Alcaraz has become Everton’s first signing of the second David Moyes era after joining the club on loan with the option to buy.
The former Southampton midfielder joined from Flamengo on Deadline Day, marking his return to the Premier League after half a season away.
Alcaraz, 22, featured for Saints on the opening day of the season before joining the Brazilian side for a record £16 million fee, but returns to England to aid Everton’s relegation battle.
"I am ready for any challenge with this beautiful club so that's why I came and accepted the offer to keep fighting for my dreams," Alcaraz said.
"I want to tell the fans that whenever I wear this shirt, I will give my best, I will give everything I have to take Everton to the top, which is where they deserve to be."
Alcaraz came through at Racing in his native Argentina, and scored the winning goal in the 2022 Argentine Cup Final against Boca Juniors.
He joined Southampton in January 2023 and spent six months on loan with Juventus in Italy a year later.
Alcaraz departed St. Mary’s in the summer with eight goals and five assists with 48 Saints appearances to his name. He earned Argentina Under-23 caps and a senior call-up in that time too.
"We’ve been looking to add players to the squad to give us more depth, particularly after the recent injuries we’ve picked up," said Everton manager Moyes.
"Carlos has Premier League experience, he’s still young and we believe he can bring some energy to the team which will help us between now and the end of the season."
Alcaraz found the net three times and set up another two goals in 19 appearances for Brazilian side Flamengo.
His arrival was announced after the transfer deadline, as Everton sent a deal sheet to the Premier League to gain an extension.

A season-ending injury to Orel Mangala left The Toffees in need of midfield reinforcements with 15 rounds of Premier League action still to come.
Everton are 16th in the standings, nine points above the relegation zone.
Moyes’ side have earned some breathing space after going on a three-match winning run, beating Tottenham, Brighton and Leicester ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Bournemouth.
