What an effort that was from Fenerbahce. Galatasaray had their rivals where they wanted them, a goal up and a man up. However, the hosts rallied back and actually had chances to claim all three points late on. This deals a real blow to Galatasaray's Turkish Super Lig title hopes.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Fenerbahce 1-1 Galatasaray
Topal has one last chance to hurl a freekick into the Galatasaray penalty box, but the set piece backfires and the away side end up coming at the hosts on the rapid counter attack.
Is there time for one last chance? There were eight minutes of stoppage time at the end of the first half and seven minutes in the second half. Tells you what this match has been like.
- Yellow cardRoberto SoldadoFenerbahçe
Soldado becomes the fifth Fenerbahce player to be shown a yellow card today.
What a chance! That was the opportunity for Fenerbahce to win this with 10 men! The ball was squared for Potuk in the box, but he fluffed his lines and scuffed his effort well wide of the far post.
There will be SEVEN minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
- OffVictor MosesFenerbahçe
- OnAlper PotukFenerbahçe
Moses comes off. He was arguably the best player on the pitch in the first half. Faded.
This would feel like a point gained for Fenerbahce rather than two points dropped. A goal down and a man down, it looked certain that Galatasaray would claim their first win here in 20 years.
Fenerbahce have their backs to the wall in the final few moments of this game! Galatasaray are camped in the opposition half looking for a way through. They're going to have to gamble.
Galatasaray are pulling the Fenerbahce defence from left to right and then back again in an attempt to open up space for them to expose in behind. The home side are holding firm. For now.
Onyekuru celebrates scoring the opener, which feels like a long time ago now.
- OffSofiane FeghouliGalatasaray
- OnKonstantinos MitroglouGalatasaray
Another late change and on comes Mitroglou. Can he make an impression in the final few minutes? It's all got a bit tense all of a sudden.
- OffMathieu ValbuenaFenerbahçe
- OnIsmail KöybasiFenerbahçe
And Valbuena comes off to be repalced by Koybasi for the home team.
- OffPapa Alioune N'DiayeGalatasaray
- OnSinan GümüsGalatasaray
A couple of changes... Galatasaray make a sub with Gumus coming on for the final 10 minutes.
This is what the referees were looking at using VAR. Was this a foul in the build up to the equaliser?
It's actually Fenerbahce who are now taking the game to Galatasaray, although Jailson wastes a good opportunity to get a cross into the box by needlessly straying into an offside position.
Is there a winner left in this game? Galatasaray have been knocked out of their stride by that equaliser. It came against the run of play, but Fenerbahce are now holding their own again with 10 men.
With six goals, Onyekuru has as many goals in the second half of this season as he notched over the whole of last season.
All of a sudden this match has exploded into life. Just as it looked like Galatasaray had taken a grip of the contest, they have been pegged back and now the momentum is with the home side.
The goal stands! After a long delay, the officials have confirmed that the goal stands and Fenerbahce have indeed restored parity! Not sure what they were looking at. There wasn't even a hint of offside.
We're just waiting for the officials to confirm that this goal should stand using VAR. Oh the drama!
- GoalEljif ElmasFenerbahçe
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Fenerbahce 1 (72 mins - Eljif Elmas) Galatasaray 1. It's an immediate response from Fenerbahce who have restored parity! They won the ball high up the pitch, Soldado dummied for Elmas inside the box and the 19-year-old finished high into the roof of the net! What a finish from the youngster!
- Yellow cardHenry OnyekuruGalatasaray
There's a yellow card for the goalscorer, Onyekuru, for his role in an argument with Skrtel.
Here is the goal from Onyekuru.
The good news for Fenerbahce is that Skrtel looks fine to continue after that scare a few moments ago. The bad news is that Galatasaray have now taken the lead and have something to protect.
- GoalHenry OnyekuruGalatasaray
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Fenerbahce 0 Galatasaray 1 (66 mins - Henry Onyekuru). The breakthrough! Galatasaray have finally taken the lead in the Intercontinental Derby! Mariano played the deep cross to the back post and Onyekuru got above and ahead of his marker to head into the back of the net! Fener are down a goal and down a man too! This isn't looking good for them.
Skrtel is down! Immediate concern for the Fenerbahce defender, who seemed to be out cold after colliding with Muslera. The doctors from both team are on the pitch helping the Slovakian. This is worrying.
The chances are starting to flow for Galatasaray. They are turning the screw on Fenerbahce, who are finding it harder and harder to get out from their own half. Deeper and deeper.
Off the post! That's the closest we have come to an opener! Linnes dug a shot out from just inside the penalty area, it picked up a deflection and spun off the outside of the Fenerbahce post! So close!
Galatasaray need to see more from Fernando in the final 30 minutes of this match. The Brazilian playmaker is the sort of figure who has the ability to unlock this Fenerbahce defence.
- OffTolgay ArslanFenerbahçe
Having just been booked, Tolgay is hooked and he is replaced by Jailson for the home team.
- Yellow cardTolgay ArslanFenerbahçe
Tolgay becomes the latest player to enter the book. They are piling up for both teams.
It has to be said, this has been an extremely stop-start game so far. There is a break in play right now and I'll be honest... I'm not sure what it is for. An injury? There seemed to be a scuffle of some sort.
There is certainly a feeling that Galatasaray are starting to crank things up in the search of a goal that would put them ahead. Fenerbahce are having to do more defending in this second half.
Akbaba into the box! The substitute should have done better with that. He had time and space to pick out a teammate in the middle, but the block is made by the first man. Disappointing.
Inches away! That was so close to being the opener for Galatasaray. Feghouli played a sweeping pass out to the right wing where Mariano met it first time on the volley. His shot bounces inches wide of the far post, though.
- Yellow cardMarianoGalatasaray
Mariano is the latest player to be shown a card. There was a tug of a jersey.
Fenerbahce have changed their shape for this second half. Down a man, they have taken the call to move Moses back into the right back position. Of course, he played there for Chelsea before.
It still feels like both teams are feeling their way into this match... and we're 51 minutes in! There hasn't been a great deal of goalmouth action, it has to be said. Hopefully that changes.
Part of the problem Galatasaray faced in the first half was that they struggled to get any kind of service to Diagne. That has to change in this second half if they are to claim the win.
So just to recap... Fenerbahce are down to 10 men following the dismissal of Kaldirim at the end of the first half. So will Galatasaray be able to make the most of their man advantage?
- OffYounès BelhandaGalatasaray
- OnEmre AkbabaGalatasaray
Terim has indeed made a change to his Galatasaray team with Belhanda coming off and Akbaba coming on for the away side.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way! It's Fenerbahce against Galatasaray and it's still 0-0 in this derby.
What did you make of the first half in Istanbul? Does Terim need to make some changes to his Galatasaray team to make the most of the red card shown to Kaldirim? Tweet me your thoughts!
- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Fenerbahce 0-0 Galatasaray. It has taken a while for this Intercontinental Derby to come to the boil, but the sending off right at the end of the half has certainly shaken things up.
Credit to Fenerbahce, they are still looking to create in the final third. This time Soldado breaks into the box, but the Spanish striker couldn't find a teammate in the middle.
So how will Galatasaray make the most of the man advantage they now hold? They had been struggling in this first half. Will this now give them the impetus? Will they step out a bit more now?
There will be a massive EIGHT minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the first half.
Feghouli freekick! The former Valencia man takes the set piece 20 yards out. It was on target, but Tekin was fairly comfortable in making the save to push the ball away from the target.
- Red cardHasan Ali KaldirimFenerbahçe
IT'S A RED! The officials have overturned their own decision using the VAR! What drama! The Galatasaray players were furious with the initial decision to show Kaldirim only a yellow card!
That could be a match-defining moment. Diagne certainly looked to be clean through on goal and in a central position, so it's difficult to understand the decision the officials have made.
Big, big call! The Galatasaray players are furious. A long ball forward looked to have put Diagne clean through, but Kaldirim pulled him down. The referee decides to only show him a yellow, though! Wow.
Can either side find a breakthrough before the half time interval? Fenerbahce have had the better chances so far. Moses will feel that he might have done a little better with his opportunities.
Finally, we are back up and running. Linnes now seems to be playing with a hair net on. The Galatasaray defender must have been hurt quite badly by the elbow of Moses. Sore one.
PICTURE: Valbuena has been lively in the first half.
Linnes is still down on the ground after receiving that elbow to the head from Moses. Play has been stopped for quite some time so you can only hope that the Gala player is fine to continue.
- Yellow cardVictor MosesFenerbahçe
It's another yellow card, this time for Moses. He put an elbow into the face of Linnes.
Diagne's first chance! Right on cue, the Galatasaray centre forward is presented with a chance, but he couldn't quite direct his header on target. Tekin wasn't troubled by that much.
We have hardly seen anything from Diagne so far. I said earlier that Soldado has been denied the service he needs. Well, the same could be said of the Galatasaray centre forward.
The match is very disjointed at the moment. The referee is pulling out a number of players to give them a talking to. Skrtel and Donk are among those who are being given a warning.
Demirel on the Fenerbahce bench...
Fenerbahce have had the better of the chances in the opening 30 minutes of this match. Moses has been lively and Valbuena is doing his best to get shots away on goal from distance.
Valbuena... wide! The Frenchman has his head in his hands. He knows that was close. Valbuena took aim from 20 yards out, but his effort flashes wide of the target with Muslera beaten.
PICTURE: The Fenerbahce fans are well up for this one.
If Fenerbahce are to find a way through in this game you get the feeling that will come through Moses. He has looked most likely to have something happen for the home side early on.
Saved by Muslera! That's the first shot on target of the match and it was Moses who got his effort away on goal, forcing the Galatasaray goalkeeper into a solid save at his near post.
Belhanda has seen two yellow cards and one red card in the three derby games he has played for Galatasaray.
Soldado has been starved of service early on in this game. The Spanish striker needs service, but he's being forced to drop deep to pick up the ball and drive forwards with it.
It's all got a bit fiery in the last few minutes with tackles flying in from both teams. Of course, this is to be expected in this derby. It will be surprising if there's not a red card at some point.
- Yellow cardMehmet TopalFenerbahçe
Now Topal is booked for a late tackle on Belhanda in the centre circle.
- Yellow cardYounès BelhandaGalatasaray
Belhanda becomes the first player to be booked. He is shown a yellow card for kicking out at Soldado after losing the ball.
Tension between Demirel and Hasa before kick off in the derby...
Over the bar! It's Valbuena who takes the freekick. It wasn't quite the right position for a right footer, but the Frenchman took it anyway and put his shot well over the Galatasaray crossbar.
Freekick on the edge! This will be an opportunity to the home team. Moses jinked inside off the right wing, played the pass to Valbuena who was brought down right on the edge of the area.
Moses has made an impression early on in this game. The former Chelsea winger is being used on the right side of the Fenerbahce attack. He is giving the home side an outlet.
The pattern of the game now looks to have been established. Galatasaray are seeing more of the ball in the early stages, but Fenerbahce are looking to break in behind them at speed.
Moses cross into the middle! A defensive mix up from Galatasaray gave Moses the chance to surge forward down the right side. However, his cross into the middle for Soldado was cut out.
Flashes wide! Belhanda created space for himself on the edge of the opposition box, shifting the ball on to his right foot, but he sends his low effort wide of the post! Tekin was worried.
Both teams are struggling to find their passing flow early on in this match. They look nervous. Galatasaray are dominating the possession, but are doing very little with it in attack.
Fenerbahce started the better of the two teams, but there is a sense now, even after just six minutes, that Galatasaray are beginning to take a grip of things in the centre of the pitch.
The boos whenever Galatasaray have the ball are deafening. That's got to be distracting to play in. Of course, that's the idea. Fenerahce fans want to make this an intimidating place.
Dangerous freekick! That was an early opportunity for the home side. Valbuena whipped an in-swinging freekick into the Galatasaray area, but Muslera did just enough. It bounces off his leg and away.
Translation - no player has contributed more goals in the second half of the Super Lig season than Feghouli - six goals, four assists.
What an astonishing atmosphere there is in this stadium. Thousands upon thousands of Fenerbahce fans are bouncing. They haven't lost one of these home games against Galatasaray since 1999. That's 24 games!
- 1st Half
The Intercontinental Derby is under way! It's Fenerbahce against Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig!
Okay, here we go. About to get started in the Intercontinental Derby. Kick off is just moments away.
Feghouli will be a key man for the away side. He will be crucial to getting supply to Diagne at the head of the Galatasaray team.
Not long until kick off now. The atmosphere is building and building. Makes a mockery of any derby you see in the Premier League, this.
Valbuena posts footage from the team bus as it arrives at the stadium.
Danger man! If there's one player who can cause problems for Galatasaray it's Soldado. The former Tottenham striker has scored twice and contributed an assist in each of his last three games.
I'm Graham Ruthven and you can catch me on Twitter ahead of the match to let me know your thoughts. Is this the best derby in European football? Who do you fancy to come out on top? Tweet me!
Title challenge! For Galatasaray, this game is about more than just getting one over their rivals. There's a six-point gap at the top of the Turkish Super Lig, so they'll want to close that.
Rivalry! It's the Intercontinental Derby, one of the biggest, fiercest derbies in all of world football. This might not be a vintage Fenerbahce side, but they'll still want to get one over their great rivals.
