DEFENDERS
3-Steve Finnan. Age 29. Republic of Ireland defender who joined Liverpool for 3.5 million pounds from Fulham in the summer of 2003 after playing more than 200 matches for the London club. Previously with Birmingham City and Notts County, he has played 36 times for his country.
4-Sami Hyypia. Age 31. Scored the opening goal against Juventus in the first leg of the 2-1 quarter-final win and had two outstanding matches against Chelsea in the semi-finals. Tall and commanding in the centre of the defence, the Finnish international has had an excellent season at Anfield where he arrived in 1999 from Dutch side Willem II.
6-John Arne Riise. Age 24. A defender or left-sided midfielder. Scored after just 45 seconds against Chelsea in the League Cup final in February and contributes power and pace going forward as well as being a fine defender. Norwegian international who won the French title with AS Monaco in 2000 before joining Liverpool for 4.6 million pounds in June 2001.
21-Djimi Traore. Age 25. Has recovered from a blundering own goal which sent Liverpool crashing out of the FA Cup against Burnley in January to take ownership of the left side of defence. MIDFIELDERS

8-Steven Gerrard. Age 24. Club captain, the heartbeat of the team and one of the best playmaking midfielders in Europe. Joined Liverpool as a trainee and has now played more than 250 games for the club as well as winning 34 England caps. Scored crucial goal against Olympiakos late in their final Group A match in December which kept Liverpool in the competition.
10-Luis Garcia. Age 26. Joined Liverpool for 6.0 million pounds from Barcelona last year and after taking a while to adapt to pace of the Premier League has gained in confidence.
