They were made to work for it, but Belgium get the crucial three points against Switzerland. The second half was certainly more of a spectacle than the first, with Lukaku's double giving the hosts the win. Switzerland played a good game, but just didn't create enough.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Belgium 2-1 Switzerland
- OffDries MertensBelgium
- OnThorgan HazardBelgium
The other Hazard comes on in the dying moments of the match.
Penalty claim! Switzerland believe that they should have been awarded a spot kick. Courtois spilled a shot, then came off his line to dive at the feet of an opposition player. No penalty given.
Four minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
- OffRemo FreulerSwitzerland
- OnChristian FassnachtSwitzerland
One last change for Switzerland who have just a few minutes to salvage something from this game.
What a response from Lukaku. He missed a sitter just a couple minutes before scoring the goal that could give Belgium an extremely valuable three points in the Nations League!
- GoalRomelu LukakuBelgium
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Belgium 2 (85 mins - Romelu Lukaku) Switzerland 1. Lukaku makes amends for his earlier miss and gives Belgium the lead again! It was another great passing move and the striker slips the finish under Sommer after being played in by Mertens. Very calm finish.
- OffDenis ZakariaSwitzerland
- OnEdimilson FernandesSwitzerland
Fernandes is thrown on by Switzerland for the final five minutes or so.
Should be 45...
LUKAKU SITTER! That should have been a second Belgium goal! Chadli did so well to get to the byline and square for Lukaku, but with the keeper out from his goal he scoops well over.
Well, the second half has certainly been a much more entertaining affair. Both teams have opened things out and that has allowed more space to create opportunities from.
Kompany WIDE! What an opportunity for the veteran centre back! He had a free header from a corner kick, but from about eight yards out he somehow managed to head wide of the post!
Belgium have to be careful here now. Switzerland have the momentum and they are the ones pressing high and looking to create opportunities. The dynamic has been flipped!
- OffYannick CarrascoBelgium
- OnNacer ChadliBelgium
Martinez responds to losing the equaliser by throwing on Chadli.
The Belgian defence just switched off in defending the freekick from Shaqiri and it cost them! They thought that the delivery was floating out and so they allowed a man to drift.
- GoalMario GavranovicSwitzerland
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Belgium 1 Switzerland 1 (75 mins - Mario Gavranovic). He hasn't been on the pitch for long, but Gavranovic has grabbed an equaliser for Switzerland! Shaqiri's freekick was headed back into the danger area at the back post and the striker was on hand to slam home the finish.
- OffThomas VermaelenBelgium
- OnDedryck BoyataBelgium
A change for Belgium now and it's Celtic defender Boyata who comes on.
- OffHaris SeferovicSwitzerland
- OnMario GavranovicSwitzerland
Switzerland make their first change of the night and it's Seferovic who comes off.
Xhaka shot... wide! We all know that the Arsenal midfielder can hit those. He lines up the effort from 20 yards out, but it was never really troubling Courtois in the Belgium goal.
The game is becoming more stretched now as Switzerland look for an equaliser. This might actually suit Belgium better, though. They now have space to gallop into on the break.
Hazard at the near post! Lukaku and Hazard are linking up well. This time it's the latter that feeds the former, with Hazard shooting at the near post. Sommer gets down to save.
Lukaku has his critics for Manchester United, but there's no doubting his scoring record for the Belgian national team. He has been in exceptional form for them over 2018.
Zubar draws the save! The Switzerland forward goes down the outside and takes aim from a tight angle. But despite a deflection, Courtois makes the save with his legs. Decent try.
Another Lukaku effort! Hazard spins and plays the ball out to the striker, who creates the space for the shot. But he fires over the bar when he perhaps should have set up Hazard.
That's the first real chance that Lukaku has had all night long, but when it came to the Manchester United striker, he took it. Sommer might feel he could have done better, though.
- GoalRomelu LukakuBelgium
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Belgium 1 (58 mins - Romelu Lukaku). Switzerland 0. Belgium have found the opener and it's Lukaku! A great passing move from the hosts involves Hazard, Mertens and Meunier before being played to Lukaku, who finds the net with a low finish.
That was a warning for Belgium. They might have been the better team so far, but the longer the score stays goalless the longer Switzerland will think they have a chance.
Across the face of goal! That's easily the closest Switzerland have come to finding the net. Zubar's shot flashed across the face of goal. Shaqiri would have got on the end of it had he gambled!
Martinez gives the thumbs up to his team after some passing play, but the former Everton and Wigan manager will surely want to see more attacking potency from his side.
What a pass! That was a moment of brilliance from Hazard, who threaded a pass through to Mertens inside the box. His touch let him down, though, and his shot is blocked.
Switzerland grew into the game over the course of the first half. Xhaka was starting to take a grip of the contest, but the away side have struggled to create any opportunities.
Lukaku was wasteful in the opening 45 minutes, but we shouldn't be too unfair on the Manchester United striker. He has had very little service, if any at all, from his teammates.
As was the case at the start of the first half, Belgium have started the better of the two teams at the start of the second half. But they must find a way to make this possession count.
Carrasco was probably Belgium's best player in the first half. Lukaku had very little service, while there were some glimpses of brilliance from the largely quiet Hazard.
No changes made by either side at the half time interval. Switzerland will surely be rather pleased with how they have played so far. Belgium will be looking to do much better.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way in Brussels! It's still goalless between Belgium and Switzerland.

- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Belgium 0-0 Switzerland. Well, I won't lie - it hasn't been a classic so far, but Belgium have probably been the better of the two teams over the opening 45 minutes.
It's been a pretty underwhelmning first half in Brussels. There have been bursts of good play, but the few chances that have been created have come from distance. Nothing clearcut.
It hasn't exactly been a riveting night in the UEFA Nations League so far. We're almost at half time and only one goal has been scored in the eight games being played right now.
Can either of these sides find a breakthrough before the half time interval? Belgium look the more likely of the two teams. They are the ones dictating the play in the opposition half.
That was a waste from Lukaku. He was looking for one of either Hazard or Carrasco at the back post with an outside of the boot cross, but he gets it all wrong and it drifts out of play.
Witsel is doing his best to provide some drive through the middle for the home side, but there aren't many options ahead of him. Switzerland are covering all the passing outlets.
Courtois hasn't really been tested yet. He has been in and out of the Real Madrid team over the early part of the season. He is sharing the goalkeeper role with Navas, it would seem.
Switzerland are doing such a good job of shifting their back four across the pitch to keep the spaces closed as Belgium look for a way through. They are a very strong defensive unit.
It's noticeable that Belgium are cranking up the pressing game on Switzerland when the away side have the ball inside their own half. They're looking to force a mistake.
Lukaku shot! The Belgium number nine plays a one-two with Witsel and gets the shot away on goal from 20 yards out. It picks up a deflection and Sommer makes the diving save.
Lukaku is penalised for an arm into the face of a Swiss defender. Not sure there was any malice in that, he was trying to protect the ball, but nonetheless, the foul was awarded.
Switzerland surely need to attack with some pace. Every time it looks like they could spring a counter attack on Belgium they turn back and allow the hosts to plug the gaps.
Lukaku has had very little service so far. The Manchester United forward has been in poor form for Manchester United of late, but his scoring record for Belgium has been impressive.
Is Sommer one of the most underrated goalkeepers in the European game? He's proven at the top level of the sport, yet never seems to get much attention. He's a good shot stopper.
Carrasco has looked lively early on in this match. He has been played through the middle so far. Reminder that he was used as a full back on the left side at the World Cup.
Save! That was a good try from Carrasco, who cracked off a shot from the edge of the box after being played in by Hazard. But Sommer gets behind it and beats away the effort.
Switzerland look pretty solid at the back. That's one of their best qualities as a side. Belgium have so much attacking talent, but even still, they will find it tough breaking them down.
There were plenty critics of Martinez before the World Cup, but he silenced a lot of them by leading Belgium to the semi finals. This generation must deliver a major trophy, though.
Not much in the way of clear goalscoring opportunities so far. Tielemens has come the closest with that strike from the edge of the box that flashed past the post, but that's about it.
Henry is on the bench alongside Martinez for this game. Of course, he is the Belgium assistant manager, but this could be his final week with the Red Devils. He has been linked with the Monaco job.
Indeed, this is much better from the away side in the last five minutes or so. Although it could be argued that Belgium are standing off them and allowing them to have the ball.
Switzerland are now seeing more of the ball and are starting to gain a foothold in this game. They have the ability to do this. Creating chances was their problem at the World Cup.
Kompany makes a clearing header from a cross into the Belgium box. The Manchester City centre back is still such an important figure for the Red Devils, even at this stage of his career.
Carrasco wide! Nice idea from Belgium, who played a deep cross to the back post for Carrasco, but the former Atletico Madrid winger could only head wide of the target from a tight angle.
Meunier gave Courtois a rather challenging backpass to deal with there, but the former Chelsea man kept his cool to make the clearance. He was under pressure from Seferovic.
The Red Devils have started the better of the two teams early on this evening. They are the ones knocking the ball around the centre of the pitch, with Switzerland pegged back.
Effort wide of the post! Belgium have their first sight of goal, with Tielemens lining up the effort from the edge of the box! But the shot flashes just past of the post. Just a sighter.
Hazard has started the season in great form for Chelsea. He has even been mentioned as a potential Ballon d'Or candidate, so will he carry that form into the national team tonight?
First save! Courtois is called into action for the first time this evening. The shot was from distance from Seferovic, but the Real Madrid keeper made the straightforward save.
Both these teams might expect to qualify for the European Championships through the usual method, but you just never know how the cards will fall, so both teams will want to win this.

The anthems are done. So are the handshakes. We are ready to go here.
Here we go. The players are emerging out on to the pitch. Looks like a decent crowd for this one.
The players are in the tunnel ready to walk out in Brussels.
Just five minutes until kick off in Brussels this evening. This is one of the blockbuster games from the UEFA Nations League this week. Should be a high quality encounter.
Platform! Of course, Belgium are still riding high after making the semi finals of the World Cup in the summer. But the fans demand that this is used as a platform to even bigger things!
Main man! Shaqiri starts for Switzerland and he will be the danger man for the away side in Brussels for this game! The Liverpool winger can cause damage against anyone.

Blockbuster! As you would expect, it's a very strong side from Belgium for this game this evening. That front three of Hazard, Lukaku and Mertens could cause some real damage.
