  • End of 2nd Half

FT: Croatia 0-0 England. The visitors had the better openings - hitting the woodwork twice - but in the end they had to settle for a point.

Four minutes added.

A couple of super cameos from Sancho. Twice he takes on Pivaricbut can't quite carve out a chance for Kane and co in the middle.

Group A4 as it stands: Spain 6pts, England 1pt, Croatia 1pt.

Chilwell pushes forward down the left once more. He beats one but can't get past the second and is unlucky to give away a free kick at the byline.

Henderson seizes upon a poor clearance from Lovren but his swirling cross from the left is just too high for Sancho to make anything of it.

Kane is set free in the box - but he's flagged offside as fires into the net. No goal.

Modric with a speculative shot from 35 yards that bounces unkindly in front of Pickford, but the Everton stopper watches it all the way and holds on tight.

ATTEMPTS: Croatia 5-5 England.

Kramaric slices horribly wide from just inside the area after some good work from Rebic down the left had created the opening.

Update: This guy has decided to go to bed early...

Sterling almost races free as England catch Croatia out after a long spell of possession. However, Vida is across to just about beat the Man City man to it.

  • Tin Jedvaj
Yellow cardTin JedvajCroatiaJevaj booked for a nasty challenge on Dier.

Rashford is sent clear again, but once more he fails to deliver with a low shot that is too close to Livakovic.

Fair to say this half is much better already.

WHAT A MISS! Walker steers a wonderful pass from the right into Rashford who has all day to take a touch and finish in the area, but the Man United forward horribly scuffs his shot straight at the keeper. He simply had to score there.

  • John Stones
Yellow cardJohn StonesEnglandStones booked for halting a Croatia counter attack illegally. It came seconds after Barkley went down under a challenge from Rebic in the area.

CLOSE! Kane rises to meet a right-wing free kick and sees his header smack back off the crossbar.

Croatia patiently probe and work it to Perisic 20 yards out. He lets fly with rasping drive that Pickford parries away.

Says A LOT about the action then...

OFF THE WOODWORK! Dier makes an intelligent near-post run to meet the right-wing corner, but sees his flick header cannon off the back stick.

Pivaric misjudges a flick-on towards Rashford and is forced to concede a corner on the right.

Walker smashes into the back of Modric as the Croatia playmaker looked to pull the strings from deep and launch a counter attack. It was over-zealous from the England man.

VIDEO: Croatia go close-ish.

Finally a chance - and Kramaric will feel he should have done better. He didn't strike it cleanly from 10 yards out.

Josip Pivaric motors to the left byline and drill a low ball towards Andrej Kramaric, who sees a miss-hit shot well saved by Pickford.

Maguire does well to hack away Perisic's bouncing ball in from the left. Croatia seem to be finding another gear.

England easily repel the free kick and the second ball into the mix. Still no chance of note.

Now Chilwell is penalised for handling as Tin Jedvaj looked to maraud down the right.

The corner is dealt with but then Lovren handles 35 yards from goal.

England work it short and Henderson angles it towards the left side of the box, but the flag goes up. What a waste.

Almost a sniff of a chance for Kane now though. Walker springs into space down the right but he can't shrug off the attentions of Perisic, who does enough to affect the cross towards the England centre forward. It's a nervy moment for the Croatians but they do enough to get it behind for a corner.

Half an hour gone and Harry Kane has barely had a kick.

STAT: England have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three away games. They last kept four shut outs during a seven-match sequence in 1997-98.

Chilwell teases the resulting free kick towards Maguire at the far post, but the pace on the ball increases the angle for the centre back and he can only fire an attempted cross behind under pressure.

  • Mateo Kovacic
Yellow cardMateo KovacicCroatiaKovacic booked for a lunge at Rashford.

There's no-one in the stands, but it's fair to say the fans haven't missed anything so far!

STAT: England have won their last three away games in all competitions. The Three Lions last won four on the spin back in September 2011.

First shot of note as Perisic see a shot from distance importantly blocked (from England's point of view).

Croatia counter at speed. Vida powers forward and feeds it right to Rebic, who then pays the price for a heavy touch as his rushed cross is easily side-footed away at the near post.

Maguire is caught in possession deep inside his own half, but then Rebic opts for a cheeky back heel that catches Perisic offside. A let off for the away side.

At the other end, Modric floats a free kick into the heart of the England area but Dier firmly heads to safety.

Free kick to England in a central area midway in the Croatia half.

The visitors rework the angle and hoist a diagonal ball towards Stones, but the cross is overcooked and the home side easily survive.

Chilwell latches onto Maguire's raking ball down the left. The full back wastes little time fizzing in a low ball towards Sterling, but Pivaric is alert to the danger and hacks away from inside his own six-yard box.

STAT: Kane has failed to find the back of the net in each of his last five games for England; he’s only gone six without a goal on one previous occasion for his country which was back in 2016.

Some nice spells of possession for both sides, but nothing in terms of significant creativity in the final third as of yet.

That is the Liverpool skipper's second booking in Group A4 and means he will miss Monday's clash in Spain through suspension.

  • Jordan Henderson
Yellow cardJordan HendersonEnglandHenderson booked for hauling back Rakitic as Croatia looked to break.

DID YOU KNOW? Since beating England in the World Cup semi final, Croatia have not won. They have lost two and drawn one their last three matches, including a 6-0 thumping in Spain in this competition.

HEAD-TO-HEAD: This is the ninth encounter between the teams. England have won four times with Croatia coming out on top on three occasions (one draw).

Will any of England's young guns make an impression off the bench tonight?

Group A4 as it stands: Spain 6pts, England 0pts, Croatia 0 pts. The bottom-placed team will be relegated, so this looks like being a significant match given Spain's fine form.

Southgate: "We do it every day of our lives - playing football in front of a handful of people watching - so it's not totally unique, but in a match situation it's different. I'm sure Croatia feel the same. They'd like to have the encouragement of an incredibly passionate support."

Gareth Southgate manager of England and John Stones walk on the pitch after an England press conference ahead of the UEFA Nations League match against Croatia at Stadion HNK Rijeka on October 11, 2018 in Rijeka, Croatia.

Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic sticks to his word after naming his starting Xi early. It involves six of the players who saw off England at the World Cup with the likes of Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic featuring.

WHY IS THE MATCH BEHIND CLOSED DOORS? The punishment was dished out after a swastika was found to be marked on the field ahead of one of Croatia's Euro 2016 home qualifiers against Italy.

Tonight's crowd will be recorded as 'zero' but there will be media and delegations from each team present.

Gareth Southgate hands a first England start to Leicester left back, Ben Chilwell. The England boss is expected to switch to a 4-3-3 system with Ross Barkley featuring for the first time since May 2016. Young starlets, Mason Mount, James Maddison and Jadon Sancho are amongst the substitutes. Kieran Trippier, who scored in the Word Cup semi final defeat to Croatia, is also on the bench.

Hello and welcome to LIVE updates of England's UEFA Nations League Group A4 clash in Croatia. It's just three months since the World Cup semi final between these sides, but this match is likely to have little to no atmosphere with what would be an undoubtedly large and partisan crowd conspicuous by its absence. Kick off 19:45 BST.
