Hello and welcome to Eurosport's live commentary of the second leg of Switzerland’s World Cup Qualification play-off with Northern Ireland. This is Ryan Bailey (@ryanjaybailey) taking you through all the action from St Jakob Park tonight.

It's all over, Switzerland are heading to their fourth consecutive World Cup and Northern Ireland's journey ends here. On balance, Switzerland were definitely the better side, but the visitors have a right to feel embittered by the first-leg penalty controversy.

Rodriguez's free kick lands comfortably in McGovern's hands. A poor free kick.

Embolo wins a free kick from Evans on the edge of the area. The pitch is in atrocious condition now.

Rodriguez's instinctive clearance has kept Switzerland's World Cup dream alive. Incredible.

CHANCE: Davis forces a corner as we move into the first of four minutes of injury time. Brunt crosses in and Evans sees his header cleared off the line by Rodriguez!

Embolo is presented with space on the edge of the area for another shot, but he blasts wide.

CHANCE: Embolo turns Evans in the box in superb fashion and shoots at goal from the left. McGovern pushes it wide for a corner. Embolo has looked extremely dangerous since coming on.

CHANCE: Embolo breaks down the left and threads a ball back to Mehmedi on the edge of the area. He just has to put the ball in an empty net but he misses entirely!

If Seferovic had taken just one of the many chances he has been presented tonight, his ovation as he left the pitch would have been significantly louder.

SUB: Embolo is on for Seferovic.

CHANCE: It's four vs. two as Zakaria breaks forward. He passes to Seferovic, who blasts it over the bar. A huge waste of a chance to finish it from Switzerland.

Rodriguez breaks down the left, but his attempted pass to Seferovic is unsuccessful.

SUB: Washington is replaced by McNair.

Northern Ireland have around eight minutes of regular time to salvage their World Cup dream.

SUB: Freuler replaces Shaqiri.

Shaqiri's free kick is cleared as far as Zuber, but the visitors clear the danger.

The TV replays have shown Lichsteiner requesting a small, airplane-liquor-sized bottle from the sidelines, which he guzzled down. An energy drink, presumably.

Shaqiri sends in an inswigning corner to the near post, where Seferovic flicks the ball straight into the side netting.
