Welcome to live coverage of Poland versus England in World Cup Qualifying Group I in the European zone. It’s usually good, this fixture, particularly when it’s connected to the World Cup. Although the common perception regarding Poland is that they are a bogey team for England in this competition, the record doesn’t bear this out. Poland have only beaten England once in 20 attempts, a 2-0 victory in June 1973 that set up the result that really grates on England; a 1-1 draw at Wembley four months later that knocked England out of the World Cup and spelled the end for Alf Ramsey. Since then, England have had the upper hand. A hat-trick by Gary Lineker in Monterrey (you may have heard him mention it) set England on their path to meet with Diego Maradona in Mexico 86, while Bobby Robson’s team then survived – just – a late crossbar wobbler from Ryszard Tarasiewicz in 1989 that almost nixed England’s Italia ’90 love-in seven months ahead of the tournament. Overall, England have won 12,

A change for Poland as Swiderski replaces Buksa.

OFF THE POST! From the free kick a looping header from Maguire clangs the inside of the far post and bounces out. Sterling, who was in an offside position, swipes a leg at the loose ball and up goes the flag.

England hog the ball and Grealish is bundled over by a frustrated Krychowiak , who is booked for his troubles.

Grealish does well to find Shaw in the area, whose cross is blocked behind by Glik for a corner.

Puchacz clips a ball over the top of a suddenly stretched England defence. It's just to far ahead of Buksa though and it skids through to Pickford.
53'
Finally England warm Szczesny's hands, as Phillips booms a 25-yard dipper to him at a comfortable height.
51'
Pressure from England, as Grealish feeds Sterling into the area on the left. He's crowded out, and then a dangerous cross from Shaw is cleared with Kane lurking.
47'
England break through Mount, who feeds Grealish on the left. He dances into the area and fizzes in a low cross that beats Szczesny but drifts a few yards wide of the far post.
2ND HALF
We're underway again in Warsaw. It's been hotly contested so far, but with few chances.

Possible reasons for the brouhaha, part 1: ITV have showed a clip of Glik squeezing Walker just beneath the Adams apple when the free kick was awarded. Did Maguire react to that? There's no other footage so far.

It's a booking apiece for Glik and Maguire, for what I haven't yet seen.

...which Moder takes but can't find Bednarek. That's half-time, but something has gone off here as all of the players are into a shoving match as they make to leave the field. What was all that?

Mount trips Puchacz 30 yards from goal on the left. Free kick in a useful position for Poland...
45+1'
We'll have two additional minutes as a minimum. Good play from Grealish sets up a chance for Phillips to shoot from 20 yards, but again it's blocked.
45'
Linetty picks up a loose ball on the left of England's area. He spins Rice and then tries to beat him again, but Rice gets a foot in well to clear.
42'
Linetty leaves one on Grealish, who is getting frustrated here. Free kick to England, but nothing more.
40'
Lewandowski picks it up out on the left. He whips a low cross into the area but it's straight to Pickford.
39'
Stones is back, and seemingly happy enough to run this off.
36'
Stones has gone down for England here, booting the ball out of play to request treatment beforehand.
In other news in the group, Albania are one up on San Marino while Hungary have already put two past Andorra.
35'
Phillips wins it for England and they've got man on man with Poland again, but neither Sterling nor Kane can pass accurately enough to take advantage.
33'
Sterling beats Moder to a bouncing ball and suddenly England are on the break. It's three on three for a moment but Moder tracks Sterling for his entire 50-yard jaunt and wins the ball back for Poland.
