What a result for Switzerland. They were nowhere in the first half, but they regrouped at the break and emerged a different side. Shaqiri was the main man, scoring the winner, but also causing problems throughout the second half. The Swiss now have four points from their opening two games in Group E.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Serbia 1-2 Switzerland
- Yellow cardXherdan ShaqiriSwitzerland
Shaqiri was shown a yellow card for taking his shirt off after that goal. He won't care.
What a comeback by Switzerland. They have been a completely different team in this second half. Shaqiri has been fantastic and he showed great composure to finish off that chance.
Four minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
- GoalXherdan ShaqiriSwitzerland
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Serbia 1 Switzerland 2 (89 mins - Xherdan Shaqiri). The Swiss have probably won this game in the last minute of regular time! Shaqiri broke the offside trap at the halfway line, beating Tosic for pace, and the Stoke man had enough about him to slide home the calm finish! Drama!
This was always going to be a close game to call and it has certainly lived up to its billing. Switzerland were poor in the first half, but they have been fantastic since the restart.
Serbia and Switzerland are both taking it in turns to attack. They both know how big a win in this group would be. Just a reminder that a Serbian winner would send them through.
- Yellow cardAleksandar MitrovicSerbia
Mitrovic enters the book for arguing with the referee. He's still annoyed about not being awarded a penalty.
RODRIGUEZ... OFF THE WALL! The Switzerland full back lines up the freekick from about 20 yards out. He just about gets it up and over, but it clips the top of the wall and goes behind.
Switzerland are giving this a real go now. Shaqiri and Embolo are stretching the pitch and that is creating lots of space for the Swiss to exploit on the rapid counter attack.
EMBOLO STRIKE ON GOAL! The Switzerland sub takes aim from about 25 yards out. Stojkovic just about gets behind the strike to make the save, but only just. He nearly fumbled it.
- OffLuka MilivojevicSerbia
- OnNemanja RadonjicSerbia
Another change for Serbia. This time it's Radonjic who comes off the bench.
This has actually be one of the most entertaining games of this World Cup so far. Both sides have shown a real intent to win the match, to claim three points. Both going for it.
Both teams are taking a bit of a breather after what was a very high intensity spell in the match. Switzerland ae causing some real problems with their speed on the counter attack.
- OffBlerim DžemailiSwitzerland
- OnBreel EmboloSwitzerland
Here's a change for Switzerland. Embolo comes on and he will give the Swiss pace on the break.
GREAT DEFENDING! Shaqiri looked to be through on the Serbian goal. He only had one man to beat, but Milenkovic does very well to stand up and make the challenge to stop him.
This has become a very good match. Very open. Both teams recognise the importance of getting three points from this fixture such is the nature of the group. Entertaining for the neutral.
THE FLAG IS RAISED! Gavranovic is released clean through on the Serbian goal, he had so much time to pick his spot, but he finds the side netting! The flag is raised to spare his blushes.
Mitrovic has been the star man for Serbia. The Newcastle United forward has been dominant. The Swiss defence haven't been able to get a grip of him (well, literally they have) all game.
Now, it's Serbia who are back on top. They have 20 minutes left to find a winner, to secure their place in the last 16 of this World Cup. The changes have had an effect.
WHAT A BALL! There should have been someone on the end of that! Kolarov plays a low ball right across the face of the goal, but Mitrovic wasn't anticipating that. What a chance!
The Serbian players aren't happy with the referee and with good reason. Mitrovic should have been awarded a penalty kick and VAR didn't help him out. The referee wasn't interested.
PENALTY CLAIM! Mitrovic believes that he was dragged to the ground by Lichtsteiner and Schar. He certainly has a case. How hasn't VAR caught that in the soft checks? That was a penalty.
- OffFilip KosticSerbia
- OnAdem LjajicSerbia
Indeed, here's the change for Serbia and it's Ljajic who comes on off the bench.
Serbia need to change things up here and indeed, it looks like they are about to make a change. They need someone to help out between the defence and the midfield.
This Switzerland have a great balance when they find first gear, as they have since the start of the second half. Serbia are hanging on. This game is huge in the context of this group.
Serbia need to regroup here. They have struggled at the start of the second half. Switzerland have been a different time since the half time break. They need Milinkovic-Savic to take a grip.
This game has completely changed now. Switzerland look energetic, they are finding space in the final third of the pitch and Serbia are rocking. Shaqiri is coming into his own, finally.
WOWEEEE! OFF THE POST! That would have been a sensational goal. That would have been goal of the tournament. Shaqiri tries his luck from an impossible angle, but his wicked curling strike clips the outside of the far post.
This is a difficult spell for Serbia in this game. They have been the team on top for the most part this evening, but Switzerland are now pressing. The half time changes have worked.
Well, what's the opposite of the commentator's curse? Xhaka has been really poor for Switzerland throughout this game, but that was a great strike. That's where he can be valuable.
- GoalGranit XhakaSwitzerland
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Serbia 1 Switzerland 1 (53 mins - Granit Xhaka). Switzerland are back on level terms! The ball fall to the edge of the Serbian penalty area and Xhaka met it first time to sweep home into the back of the net with his left foot. Excellent goal by the Arsenal man!
MITROVIC HEADER! The Serbian forward gets up above his marker from a corner kick and gets his head to the delivery. He can't get over it enough and heads over the target.
Once again, Xhaka gives the ball away cheaply inside his own half. That's not the first time he has done that. The Arsenal midfielder is contributing to the problems Switzerland have faced.
Mitrovic had Schar on toast in the first half. The Newcastle United forward, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham, already has one and could have had more.
That's poor from Rodriguez. The Swiss left back tried to swing a cross to the back post, but he gets his angles all wrong and the ball flies wide of the far post. Nobody there. Whoops.
Serbia were the better side in the opening 45 minutes. They were in control for the majority of the first half, but will we see a different approach from Switzerland in this half?
- OffHaris SeferovicSwitzerland
- OnMario GavranovicSwitzerland
Switzerland made a change at the break. Seferovic struggled to make an impact and so he has been hooked off.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way! Serbia have a 1-0 lead over Switzerland after the opening 45 minutes.

- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Serbia -0 Switzerland. Mitrovic's early goal is the difference between the two sides at the break and Serbia are good value for their lead. They have been the better side.
That probably should have been a foul there. Kolarov had Lichtsteiner beat for pace and body-checked the Serbian left back. For some reason the referee doesn't award the freekick.
WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY! That should have been a second goal for Serbia. The corner kick from Tadic was a wicked one, Tosic misses his header and Matic knees it wide. Wow.
TADIC CHANCE! That was lovely play from the Southampton man, who shows great skill to get away from his man in the box, but he decides to float a pass to the back post, where there was nobody waiting.
Serbia are doing well to keep things tight at the back. Switzerland are the comes flying forward in numbers, but there's no real space in behind the opposition to exploit. New plan needed.
- Yellow cardLuka MilivojevicSerbia
Shaqiri is hacked down as he surges through the centre of the pitch and that's a yellow card.
Shaqiri goes down on the right side of the box implying that he had been caught by the arm of Mitrovic, who was back defending for Serbia. Replays show that there was nothing in it.
TADIC EFFORT! A Serbian freekick is cleared to the edge of the box, where Tadic controls the ball and takes aim. But his powerful shot is straight at Sommer, who makes the save.
Xhaka needs to do better for Switzerland. He has given up the ball in the middle of the pitch far too many times and that is piling the pressure on top of his own defensive teammates.
Serbia have taken their foot off the pedal a little bit in the last few minutes. They seem quite happy to sit back, absorb pressure and then hit out on the rapid counter attack.
- Yellow cardSergej Milinkovic-SavicSerbia
Mlinkovic-Savic enters the book for a high foot in the tackle. Probably deserved that.
CHANCE FOR SWITZERLAND! That might have been 1-1. Dzemaili played a lovely ball in behind for Seferovic, but Stojkovic comes off his line to make the intervention at the striker's feet.
This has been an impressive start to this game by Serbia. Just a reminder that if they wn this evening then they will secure their place in the last 16 of the World Cup. Incentive.
Lichtsteiner is of course playing for Switzerland tonight. He is one of the more experienced players in their team. He will join Arsenal this summer after leaving Juventus.
Shaqiri hasn't been able to get on the ball yet. The Stoke City man is having to drop deeper and deeper to even get on possession, and then that puts him so far away from goal.
The Swiss are finding it tough at the moment. They have the ball, but you can see the frustration in their body language. They are really struggling in breaking down Serbia.
Serbia are doing a good job of making it difficult for Switzerland to play through them. Even Mitrovic is doing his fair share of the defensive work. Very good start to this game for Serbia.
Switzerland have now fallen out of the game again. They had found a foothold in the match after conceding the opener, but Serbia are now on top in terms of possession and chances.
SPECTACULAR EFFORT! Mitrovic gets on the end of another cross. This time, he takes it on his chest and turns to send an overhead kick towards goal, but he sends it over the bar.
Milinkovic-Savic looks the real deal. Mitrovic has scored the opening goal, but it's the central midfielder who is the main man for Serbia. Their attacking moves flow through him.
This has been a much more open game than I think many had anticipated between these two. The early goal for Serbia has drawn Switzerland out of their shell. Entertaining.
ANOTHER SHOT WIDE! Milinkovic-Savic bursts through the midfield and takes the shot from the edge of the box when he gets there. But the Lazio man drags his effort wide of the far post.
HEADER OVER! It's Mitrovic again. This time, he's way out. The cross was to the edge of the box, but he couldn't direct his effort on target and the header loops over the crossbar.
Seferovic looks to have twisted his ankle in the turf. The striker is hobbling away after a challenge with a Serbian defender. Switzerland need him. He looks like he will be able to continue.
The response from Switzerland to going a goal behind early on has been a positive one. They are in control of the ball at the moment. They are creating chances and working into dangerous positions.
SCUFFED WIDE! That was a chance for Switzerland to hit back immediately. Rodriguez muscles Ivanovic off the ball and squares for Dzemaili, who scuffs his shot across goal and wide.
This will be a real test for Switzerland now. Will they come out and be a bit more adventurous in their approach now that they are trailing? Will they come out and attack Serbia?
Mitrovic had been on fire on loan at Fulham over the last few months of the season, leading them to the Premier League, and now he's carrying that form into the World Cup.
The Swiss don't concede many goals. They kept eight clean sheets over the course of their 11 qualification campaigns to get to this tournament, but Sommer has been beaten early here.
- GoalAleksandar MitrovicSerbia
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Serbia 1 (5 mins - Aleksandar Mitrovic) Switzerland 0. Mitrovic for Serbia! He's grabbed the opening goal of the game! Tadic sends a cross into the box and the Newcastle United striker glances a fantastic header high into the net! Great goal from Mitrovic.
MITROVIC DENIED! Close to the opener for Serbia in the first few minutes of the match. Mitrovic gets above Schar to get the header on goal from a cross and Sommer makes the save.
XHAKA SHOT! It's the Arsenal midfielder who has the first sight of goal, setting himself for the shot 25 yards out. But he lashes his effort well wide of the target. Early sighter for Xhaka.
EARLY CHAOS! Serbia play a ball into the Swiss penalty area, with Mitrovic looking to bully his way on to the end of the delivery. The Swiss defence does just enough to crowd him out.
Kolarov scored a wonderful freekick for Serbia in the group opener against Costa Rica. He's already surging down the left wing. He is played as a wing back in this team.
- 1st Half
The match is under way in Kaliningrad! It's Serbia against Switzerland in Group E of the World Cup!
Behrami was very good against Brazil in the opening group game for Switzerland. That battle between him and the likes of Matic and Milinkovic-Savic will be key to this match.
Serbia were rather impressive in their opening group game against Costa Rica. Mitrovic is a key player for them. The Newcastle United man starts up front for them this evening.
Earlier today, Brazil beat Costa Rica with two late goals. That gives a boost to their chances of getting out of this group. So Serbia and Switzerland both need a win from this one.
Shaqiri will be Switzerland's difference-maker at this World Cup. The Swiss are very well drilled defensively, they don't get beat very often, but the Stoke man is their one wildcard in the pack.
Switzerland caused one of the surprises of the opening group games at this summer's World Cup. They drew against Brazil, but they were good valuable for their point. Can they repeat that display?
There will be a lot of eyes on Milinkovic-Savic this evening. The Lazio midfielder was very impressive in his first group game. He's attracting attention from Man Utd and Juventus.
