And the Spanish have won three of their four World Cup matches against African opponents, scoring 11 goals.
Spain's caretaker boss Hierro has compared the current crop of players with the 2010 world champions.
"It's a similar group, although I know that you can't have clones unfortunately," he told Onda Cero.
"But we have a back-up group pushing for places every day. That is the only way to avoid relaxing, by having a group of team-mates that push you closer to the limit every day."
If its all level between Spain and Portugal, it could be down to their disciplinary records or even drawing lots..
Morocco have already been eliminated from the 2018 World Cup; they have now been eliminated at the group stage in four of their five World Cup campaigns, only progressing in the 1986 tournament.
Fernando Hierro has made one change from the side that squeezed past Iran with Thiago Alcantara replacing Lucas Vazquez.
Morocco have also made one change, bringing in Wolves defender Romain Saiss for Mehdi Benatia.
THE MATHS BIT: Spain and Portugal need a point to clinch a place in the last 16.
Spain can qualify if they lose and Portugal lose by a bigger margin or the Spanish lose by no more than one goal and Portugal and Iran draw 0-0, 1-1, 2-2 or 3-3.
The Portuguese can qualify if they lose and Spain lose by a bigger margin to Morocco.
