Lewis Hamilton can secure a fourth Formula One title at this weekend’s Mexican GP, but what does he need to happen?

The Briton, chasing a third drivers’ championship in his fifth season with Mercedes, now has a 66-point lead over nearest rival Sebastian Vettel.

Hamilton will be crowned world champion if he finishes fifth or higher
If Vettel finishes second, Hamilton becomes world champion if he comes ninth or higher
If Vettel comes third or lower, Hamilton will be world champion even if he picks up zero points

Essentially, Hamilton must finish within 16 points of Vettel to secure the 2017 drivers’ championship.
