MEXICO CITY, Oct 23 (Reuters) - The Mexican Grand Prix will be streamed live and free on Amazon.com's Twitch entertainment platform for the first time in six European countries, Formula One said on Wednesday.
The one-race deal covering all sessions of what could be a championship-deciding weekend extends to Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden via twitch.tv and the platform's mobile app.
Twitch is best known as a platform for video game players to interact and stream their own competitions.
"As part of the deal, interactivity and gaming elements will be added to the broadcast to really drive engagement from the community," Formula One, owned by U.S.-based Liberty Media, said in a statement.
It said this would include a data extension alongside the broadcast so that users could predict the performance of drivers during 10-minute segments of the race.
Formula One launched its own television subscription streaming service last year, targeting an estimated 500 million fans worldwide as part of a digital transformation.
