New Liberty Media has been planning an overhaul to make grand prix weekends more attractive for fans, with some 'Fan Festival' measures to be introduced this weekend at Barcelona.
Interviews and features will now be shown on big screens at circuits between on-track action, following a model established by promoters of the Australian and British Grands Prix.
Revamped and standardised Fan Zones will now include simulators and pitstop challenges, while attendees can enter competitions to win a ride in a two-seater F1 car, Paddock Club passes and photo opportunities with teams.
Corporate guests in the Paddock Club will lap the circuit in the regular drivers' parade truck and receive exclusive access to a range of show car and a mocked-up garage.
"Formula 1 is undergoing a major evolution and the Spanish Grand Prix is a landmark moment in the brand's history," Sean Bratches, F1's commercial managing director, said.
"From the outset, we have focused on getting fans closer to the action and broadening the appeal of the sport.
"The launch of this weekend's Fan Festival marks the beginning of this journey and we are excited about bringing races to life in this way over the course of the season and beyond."
