Olympic slopestyle champion Sarah Hoefflin won her first Freestyle Ski World Cup event of the season, as 15-year-old Eileen Gu picked up a maiden World Cup podium finish.
In the second slopestyle event of the campaign, Hoefflin – who won silver in the opener in Stubai, Austria back in November – scored an unbeatable 78.52 on her first run in Font Romeu, France.
American teenager Gu did push the Swiss close however, as she laid down a run of 78.03 second time out, which was good enough to climb from third to take silver.
That pushed another Swiss, Giulia Tanno, into the bronze medal position as she couldn’t better her first-run score of 74.54.
Home favourite Tess Ledeux struggled to 11th spot, while Kelly Sildaru – who came out on top in Stubai – elected to miss the event to continue her recovery from a leg injury sustained before Christmas.
That means Estonian Sildaru (100 points) drops to third in the slopestyle World Cup standings, with Hoefflin top on 180 points and Gu in second with 104.
