Katie Summerhayes is a history-maker for Great Britain and will be hoping to go even better than her seventh place in Sochi.

  • Name - Katie Summerhayes
  • Date of Birth - 08/10/1995
  • Place of Birth - Sheffield
  • Sport/Discipline - Freestyle skiing (slopestyle)
  • Honours - World Championship: Silver x1

Summerhayes was just 18 at the last Winter Games in Sochi and came seventh in the slopestyle final despite qualifying in third place. She failed to land her first jump in the final and then struggled with a number of errors.

However, she had been recovering from an ACL rupture in the build-up to the Games.

Summerhayes became junior world champion two months after Sochi and, in January 2015, became the first British woman to win a medal at the Freestyle World Championships, placing second in slopestyle.

Summerhayes learned to ski on artificial snow in Sheffield and is close friends with James Woods, a contender in the men's slopestyle event, who was a member of the same ski club.
