Russia topple Danes

World champions Russia defeated Olympic champions Denmark 32-28 in the battle of handball superpowers in the World Cup semi-finals in Aarhus on Saturday.

Elena Polenova led Russia with eight goals, while Henriette Mikkelsen scored 14 for the Danes.

Russia held onto to their 17-14 half-time lead, outscoring the Olympic champs by one goal in the second frame.

The Russians will face Romania in Sunday's final after the Romanians defeated Ukraine 27-25 in the first semi-final.
