The hosts trailed 9-7 but unaswered goals from Lars Møller Madsen, Hans Lindberg and Jesper Jensen gave the Danes the lead and they held a 15-13 advantage at the interval.
But the game was level at 17-17 after 40 minutes of the second period and it was 22-22 entering the final ten minutes.
Jensen gave the Scandinavians a 26-25 advantage with three minutes to go before Michael Knudsen and Lindberg, who top-scored for the hosts with five, made the game safe in the closing stages.
The 2005 World Championship semi-finalists lost despite a nine-goal effort from Nikola Karabatic but have a chance for revenge as the teams meet again on Thursday.
Argentina, who are in the same group as hosts Germany, Poland and Brazil, failed to impress as they downed Bundesliga 2 leaders Füchse Berlin 32-26.
