And team manager Oliver Bierhoff says the country's football side can learn much from the unity and work-rate of Heiner Brand's handball stars, who beat Poland 29-24 in the final on Sunday
"Unfortunately I couldn't watch every game but I decided to delay the training in order to watch the final," Bierhoff told Eurosport.
"Their performance filled us with enthusiasm, and I hope they 'll inspire us. They had a common will to play together and to win, so it was a great example for us."
Defender Christoph Metzelder was another who enjoyed the carnival atmosphere throughout the tournament.
"Of course, I'm very proud of the national handball team," Metzelder added. "I want to compliment them on their great performance.
"I was in Dortmund during the qualifying matches and I saw the match against France. It was amazing.
"I imagine that the handball players also watched us during the World Cup this summer. I really enjoyed it."
It was Germany's third World Championship triumph, following their victories in 1938 and 1978.
