NHL notebook: Suspension ends Cogliano's 830-game streak

Cogliano's 830-game streak began in 2007 and was placed in jeopardy on
Saturday when he drew an interference penalty for the high hit on Los Angeles
Kings forward Adrian Kempe during the first period of the 4-2 victory.

Cogliano will forfeit $32,258.06 to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. He
will miss Monday's road game against the Colorado Avalanche and Wednesday's
home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Former Montreal Canadiens center Doug Jarvis holds the consecutive-games
record of 964 from 1975-87. Florida Panthers defenseman Keith Yandle (676)
replaces Cogliano as the active leader.

--The Calgary Flames placed veteran right wing Jaromir Jagr on injured reserve
with a lower-body injury. The move is retroactive to Dec. 31.

Jagr, 45, has a goal and six assists in 22 games since signing with the Flames
on a one-year, $1 million deal in October. He was placed on injured reserve
earlier this season after suffering a lower-body injury against the Minnesota
Wild on Oct. 21.

The move to injured reserve is expected to mark the end of Jagr's time with
the Flames as reports surfaced last week that he and the team were "working on
an exit" for the future Hall of Famer. In a corresponding move, Calgary
recalled forward Ryan Lomberg from AHL's Stockton for his first stint in the
NHL.

--The Montreal Canadiens received good news when center Phillip Danault was
released from the hospital a day after getting hit in the head by a puck shot
by Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara.

Danault will continue his recovery at home, according to a team announcement.

The incident took place with 1:37 remaining in the second period Saturday
night. Chara blasted one from the blue line, hitting Danault, who was standing
at the top of the faceoff circle, on the right side of his head off his
helmet. The 24-year-old fell to the ice and appeared to be unconscious as
trainers rushed to his aid, and he was transported to the hospital.
