Luge legend Geisenberger wins ninth world title

The 30-year-old, who won her first-ever women's sprint gold on Friday, clinched her fourth women's singles crown in her last five World Championship outings in Winterberg on Saturday afternoon.

Geisenberger - also twice a double-Olympic champion - thrilled her home crowd in Germany by defeating compatriot Julia Taubitz by 0.425 seconds.

Runs of 57.142 and 56.726 saw Geisenberger rack up a time of 1:53.868, enough to get the better of Taubitz (1:54.293) and the United States' Emily Sweeney, who was third in 1:54.381.

Geisenberger, who also has three team relay golds to her name, now boasts 14 career World Championship medals overall.
