Luge World Cup gold for Pavlichenko

Russian athlete Semen Pavlichenko won the men's singles event at the Luge World Cup in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi.
Another Russian - Roman Repilov - came second and Dominik Fischnaller of Italy was third on the track where the 2014 Winter Olympics took place.
Pavlichenko dominated the race with two flawless descents, 52.023 in the first and 51.844 in the second for a total time of 1:43.867.
With this success, Pavlichenko flies to the top of the World Cup standings, with a 55 point margin on Repilov.
The former leader of the general classification - German Johannes Ludwig – finished 12th in Sochi and slips down to third in the overall standings, 58 points behind Pavlichenko.
