Thanks for joining us. The next race is in three weeks, when the MotoGP circus goes to the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona.
Dani Pedrosa has been diagnosed with a broken right collarbone following that crash. Terrible news for the Spaniard, who has had such rotten luck with injuries.
Here's what that does to the title picture: Lorenzo 78, Stoner 66, Pedrosa 61, Rossi 57, Dovizioso 50.
STONER WINS!! An emphatic victory for the Australian! Dovizioso holds on to second, Rossi puts his Ducati on the podium and Jorge Lorenzo is fourth. Simoncelli finishes fifth thanks to that late flurry!
Simoncelli is into sixth and he has got Ben Spies in his sights - the Italian is on a charge but time is running out!
Dovizioso into second! Can he hold off Rossi for the remaining lap and a half?
Stoner is well ahead, and as long as he keeps it rubber side down he will pick up his second win of the season - Simoncelli is seventh.
Lorenzo has dropped right off, and there should be a brilliant battle between Dovi and Rossi for second now...
Simoncelli comes back out way down the pack - he'll be eighth or ninth by my reckoning - and that means Rossi is now second!
ROSSI!! He's past Lorenzo into third! And Dovizioso shimmies past the world champion! And now Simoncelli comes in...
That's a tough break for Simoncelli, who did not appear to do much wrong - he had a good half a bike length on Pedrosa. Incidentally, Colin Edwards has got back on and is lapping on his own in 14th and last.
RIDE THROUGH PENALTY FOR SIMONCELLI! He is penalised for the move that led to Pedrosa's crash! Tough break.
Another faller! It's Loris Capirossi, and the Pramac Ducato team have lost both riders now!
Rossi clocks his fastest lap of the race, a 1:34.273 - can he get on the podium?
So Jorge Lorenzo is on course for a podium finish - but he is coming under a bit of pressure from Valentino Rossi who has gone fourth ahead of Dovizioso.
That Pedrosa spill could have major repercussions for the title picture - Stoner is now on course to go second in the points standings.
Pedrosa may have clipped the back wheel of Simoncelli there - looked like a racing incident. In fact, there are tyre marks on Simoncelli's leathers, so definite contact!
Pedrosa tried to counter Simoncelli at the end of the straight and lost it through the esses. Pedrosa is holding his collarbone - let's hope he's OK...
Simoncelli makes a move for second... AND MAKES IT STICK!! Can Pedrosa respond? NO!! HE'S DOWN!!!
Pedrosa has dropped off the front and is falling back into the clutches of Marco Simoncelli, who is now within a second of the Spnaiard.
Colin Edwards has gone! He slides off on his backside and that's race over for both Tech 3 Yamahas.
This is another frustrating race for Valentino Rossi, who is running a creditable but unspectacular sixth.
Yikes!! Toni Elias goes in very hot and has to bail out of a left-hander - he loses a handful of places from 11th.
This is a two-pony showdown. Simoncelli is now running a lonely third - then Dovi, Lorenzo and Rossi in a battle for the 4-5-6 spots.
Crutchlow is out of the race and back in the pits - his bike picked up some damage in that crash.
And now Stoner responds, taking another three tenths out of his Repsol Honda team-mate. Fourth-placed Lorenzo has Dovizioso all over his back wheel... and DOVI is through!
Fastest lap Pedrosa! 1:33.617 from the Spaniard, and he just will not let Stoner get away!
How they stand: 1-Stoner, 2-Pedrosa, 3-Simoncelli, 4-Lorenzo, 5-Dovizioso, 6-Rossi, 7-Edwards, 8-Spies, 9-Hayden, 10-Aoyama.
Stoner sets his fastest lap - he is three tenths ahead of Pedrosa, with Simoncelli a further second back.
Crutchlow is now a distant 38 seconds behind 15th-placed Alvaro Bautista.
Down goes Cal Crutchlow! The bike stays on the tarmac and he is able to resume, but he drops to the back of the pack.
Stoner's lead is steady at about a quarter of a second - meanwhile Simoncelli sets a fastest lap as he extends away from Lorenzo.
Another fastest lap for Stoner, and that's actually a circuit record for the Aussie. He's trying to break away from Pedrosa.
Simoncelli is back in front of Lorenzo! The defending world champion is involved in a real dice.
Stoner sets a fastest lap of 1:34.376 and is 0.142 in front of Pedrosa. Six riders within a second and a half at the front.
Lorenzo is on a charge, and he battles past Simoncelli to go third. He was the fastest man on track on lap two, and it taking the fight to the Hondas.
Here's how they stand: 1-Pedrosa, 2-Stoner, 3-Simoncelli, 4-Lorenzo, 5-Dovizioso, 6-Rossi, 7-Edwards, 8-Spies, 9-Crutchlow, 10-Hayden.
Lorenzo muscles his way past Dovizioso, and DE PUNIET IS DOWN! The Frenchman's race is over on the second lap of his home GP.
It's a Repsol Honda 1-2-3 with Pedrosa from Stoner and Dovizioso...
Lorenzo goes through underneath Simoncelli, but Sideshow Bob hits back! No love lost between these two, and it's a great battle for fourth.
GOOOO! Great start from Pedrosa, who slices into the lead from fourth on the grid! Aoyama runs wide but he keeps going.
Stoner has a last-minute bit of work to his front wheel before they go off on the warm-up lap. Let's hope he doesn't have a problem.
Oh, and look, there's Keith Flint on the grid!
The usual pre-match scrum is out on the grid - guitar ace Slash is among the throng.
This race has been given extra spice by the on-track altercation between Casey Stoner and Randy De Puniet this morning. Stoner has been fined 5,000 euros, De Puniet not punished.
