MARINI'S FIRST PODIUM

20:45

RINS WINS THE AMERICAS GP

It’s an amazing victory for Alex Rins, his sixth win in MotoGP and his first as a Honda rider. Marini takes second and Quartararo third. Brilliant Grand Prix.

19/20

LAP 19/20 – GAPS INCREASING IN THE TOP FIVE

Barring any mistakes or incidents, the top five looks set now as they are spreading out. Rins, Marini, Quartararo, Vinales and Oliveira is the order with one more lap around the Circuit of the Americas to come.

17/20

LAP 17/20 – MARINI CLOSING IN ON RINS

And now the gap is 2.1 seconds but there are only a few more laps remaining. It’s going to take a big charge from Marini to catch Rins now.

Quartararo looks like he's settling for third.

15/20

LAP 15/20 – RINS INCREASING THE LEAD

Rins moves the gap up from Marini and Quartararo to 2.6 seconds. This is looking very good for him now.

He won two of the final three races last year remember and could vault up the championship standings with victory today.

14/20

LAP 14/20 – MARINI TAKES SECOND

Marini has been going with Quartararo though and he breezes by the Yamaha rider down the back straight to take second place.

Surely, he can’t close the gap and snatch the win from Rins. What a race this is.

13/20

LAP 13/20 – GAP UNDER TWO SECONDS AT THE FRONT

Meanwhile, at the front, Quartararo has just got the gap at the front down to under two seconds.

It’s been roughly around the 2.1-2.5 mark for the last few laps but now Quartararo is making inroads. Can Rins respond?

12/20

LAP 12/20 – BINDER DOWN

And Binder has crashed just after that overtake, as has Takaaki Nakagami. This really is a race of attrition, I can barely keep up!

11/20

LAP 11/20 – OLIVEIRA OVERTAKES ZARCO

Miguel Oliveira makes a brilliant move into Turn 8 on Johann Zarco for sixth place. Brad Binder wants a piece of Zarco as well so immediately capitalises to take seventh.

10/20

LAP 10/20 – RINS LEADS AT HALFWAY

Right, take a breath everyone. Rins leads from 2.2 seconds from Quartararo, with Marini in third.

Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi is fourth, in front of Maverick Vinales and Johann Zarco.

20:22

BAGNAIA'S CRASH FROM THE LEAD

8/20

LAP 8/20 – BAGNAIA IS OUT!

Can you believe it!? Bagnaia crashes at Turn 2. HUGE moment in the championship. Rins takes the lead, wow.

7/20

LAP 7/20 – MILLER CRASHES

Oh no, Jack Miller has crashed at Turn 7 from third place! He was just starting to drop off the pace of the leaders and looks like he caught too much kerb and has gone down.

Fabio Quartararo is now on the final step of the podium, just ahead of Luca Marini.

6/20

LAP 6/20 – RINS ON THE ATTACK

Rins thinks about a move into the penultimate corner and is really going for it. But, the acceleration of Bagnaia’s Ducati is enough to keep him ahead at the moment.

5/20

LAP 5/20 - FRONT THREE PULLING AWAY

Bagnaia, Rins and Miller are pulling away from Quartararo, who is having to fend off Luca Marini. Definitely game on at the front.

20:10

RECAP OF LAP 1 DRAMA

3/20

Lap 3/20

The consensus pre-race was if Bagnaia is in the lead, he will not be beaten. However, Rins is on the back of the defending champion, who is not pulling away. Less than half a second between them across the line.

2/20

Lap 2/20 – ESPARGARO CRASHES

Aleix Espargaro also crashes at Turn 12 on the first lap and is out. Bagnaia leads the way from Rins, Miller and Quartararo.

1/20

LAP 1/20 – BAGNAIA KEEPS THE LEAD BUT MARTIN AND MARQUEZ GO DOWN

Alex Rins tries to go down the inside at Turn 1 and into Turn 11 but Francesco Bagnaia keeps the lead, only just though. Jorge Martin and Alex Marquez have made contact in the first sector, action everywhere on the opening lap

20:00

FORMATION LAP BEGINS

Bagnaia leads the field away for the formation lap. It’s his race to lose and the opening laps will be vital.

SOFT REAR TYRES ALL-ROUND

Very sunny conditions of around 22 degrees Celsius in the air and all the riders have opted for a soft rear tyre.

This is also the last race weekend where you can run any tyre pressure, which will be key early on in the Grand Prix.

Five minutes until we get underway!
