Edwards claims fourth spot in the grid, followed by Simoncelli, Hayden, Aoyama, Bautista, Rossi and Crutchlow to complete the top 10 in qualifying.
Pedrosa is followed by Repsol Honda team-mates Stoner and Dovizioso.
No further improvements on the final laps and Pedrosa claims pole position!
The chequered flag is out and both Pedrosa and Stoner will have more flying lap to improve!
Spies goes off at Turn 10! He hobbles off and he will be a doubt to race tomorrow.
Stoner improves but it's not enough to knock Pedrosa off his perch! Just time for two more laps for the leaders!
Pedrosa and Stoner look like they're going to toe-to-toe... but Dovizioso is also in the mix! Repsol Honda are dominating!

Pedrosa looks fast here... what's the Spaniard got? He goes top, a quarter of a second faster than Stoner as Edwards goes fourth!
Stoner is having a new rear tyre put on his machine and we can maybe expect him to improve further now.
Stoner reclaims top spot! The Aussie puts in a 2:01.732 to lay down the gauntlet to his rivals!
Rossi has a quick turnaround and he's already back on track!
And now Aoyama shunts Stoner into seventh. But the Australian is back out on track now and let's see what he can do.
Dovizioso heads back to the garage before a final push for pole.
Stoner drops back to sixth as Bautista trumps him. Barbera is back out on the track after some more physio in the garage.
Rossi is off his bike! He slips off the side of his bike and he stalks off as stewards pick his bike up. The Italian gives a thumbs up though and he's okay.
Stoner is still down in fifth... what can the newly-crowned champion conjure up in the final stages of this qualifying session?
Under 20 minutes to go now and it's Dani Pedrosa who is currently going to claim pole for tomorrow's race.
Pedrosa breaks the 2:01 bracket with a 2:01.938! That's still some way off Rossi's circuit record of 2:00.518, but it's still good enough to go top.
Dovizioso beats his own best time and the Italian strengthens his lead at the top of the charts. The are still Honda riders.
Pedrosa improves again to move into second place but it's still Dovizioso at the top of the timesheets so far.
Stoner is pushing hard and goes second with 2:02:480 as Rossi, six-times winner here at Sepang, heads back to the garage.
Hector Barbera is riding with a damaged collar bone this weekend and he must be in some real pain.
Crutchlow has a bit of a moment and nearly flies off, but he does well to cling on!
Valentino Rossi is currently in ninth with Edwards, Hayden and Bautista ahead of the Italian.
Dovizioso, Simoncelli, Pedroso, Stoner and Aoyama occupy the top five positions at the moment.
Stoner puts in his best time of the session to go into fourth spot.
Pedrosa is ready to come back out of the Repsol Honda garage. That slide wasn't too serious.
Dovizioso now takes over at the top of the timesheets with a 2:02.088.
Pedrosa is off his bike in the final corner! He's okay though and he gets his bike started again before heading back to the pits.
Dovizioso now sets the pace with a lap of 2:02.199.
Simoncelli soon trumps Stoner with a 2:02.555 and that time is currently the benchmark.
Stoner goes top of the charts as he makes up time on Simoncelli in the final split.
Simoncelli is the first to get a time on the board - a 2:02.942 to sit on top of the pile.
John Hopkins will not race today - he's been ruled out through injury.
The sun is out and this session should be rain-free.
Stoner is going for pole number 12 this season - but he has never won pole at this circuit.
Here we go! We are green in Sepang and an hour of qualification awaits!
