Qualification

Stoner again is threatening as he goes fastest in the first and second splits... but he can't match Pedrosa in the final sector and has to settle for third with a 2:00.811.

Stoner is quick through the first split... but Pedrosa looks even quicker! And Pedrosa lays down the fastest lap of the weekend with a 2:00.634!

Dovizioso looks fast here... and he goes top with a 2:00.800! Game on!

Barbera improves his time, but remains in 10th.

Rossi leaves the pits, standing up on his bike and adjusting his crotch before sitting back down and preparing for a final push.

The weather has held so far this session and it looks like remaining that way for the remainder. The Moto2 qualification session might be a different story though...

Not much change in the standings at the moment in a bit of a lull before the final 15 minute storm.

Oh dear, Stoner doesn't even complete a lap back on bike number one before heading back to the garage!

Stoner's hopped back on to his first bike and it looks like he'll just have to make do with that, no matter what the problems are. Apparently, it's the chatter on his bike.

So, we're gearing up to the conclusion of this session, with Pedrosa's 2:01.089 still the time to beat.

Stoner's already back in the garage and again the Aussie is shaking his head, unhappy with something about his bike.

Bradl now displaces Crutchlow in sixth before Bautista usurps him.

Here goes Stoner on his first flying lap on the new bike. He posts a 2:01.318 and remains in fifth.

Bradl and Rossi are trading blows in 7th/8th at the moment.

Stoner will re-enter the fray on a second machine. Bike number one clearly wasn't doing it for the Aussie earlier.

Rossi is the top Ducati again as he jumps into eighth, 1.326 off the pace. Ahead of him are Bradl, Crutchlow and then the top five of Stoner, Spies, Dovizioso, Lorenzo and Pedrosa.

Stoner goes fifth on his first flying lap, proving his form is on the up as he prepares himself for a return to Phillip Island next time out.

Dovizioso stays third, with Ben Spies in fourth at the moment. Lorenzo heads back to the garage, satisfied with his work so far today.

Pedrosa and Lorenzo are already slugging it out at the top of the timesheets, with both riders taking their turns to pace the session! It should be a good one!

Lorenzo briefly goes top but 2:01.089 is the new benchmark with Pedrosa again the man to beat.

The lap record here in Sepang remains 2:00.518 - set by a certain Valentino Rossi.

Dovizioso betters that before Pedrosa climbs to the top with a 2:01.485!

So, with seven minutes gone of the session, it's Lorenzo who tops the timesheets after posting a 2:01.535 to set the benchmark.

Stoner's back in the garages and the Aussie is cutting a frustrated figure as he shakes his head. He's clearly not impressed by the performance of his bike so far today.

Randy Di Puniet is also out there and another rider battling a couple of knocks this weekend.

Nicky Hayden is one of the riders out on track at the moment. The American has looked good so far this weekend.

Here we go then! An hour of qualification is under way at Sepang!

The weather's not too bad at the moment, although there is talk of rain arriving later.

So, all eyes are on Pedrosa in qualifying, although Stoner has shown signs he is nearly back to his best and, of course, Lorenzo will be difficult to better.

And Pedrosa beat Jorge Lorenzo again in the final practice earlier today.

Ivan Silva was the surprise pacesetter in second practice as tricky conditions restricted running and kept the morning's fastest riders in the garage.

Dani Pedrosa dominated the opening practice session, finishing comfortably clear of Honda team-mate Casey Stoner and championship rival Jorge Lorenzo.
