Toni Elias extended his lead at top of the Moto2 standings to 42 points with a win in the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring.
Andreas Iannone, who began the race in pole position, led for much of the race before eventually finishing 3.297 seconds behind the Spaniard in second place.
Iannone's fellow Italian Roberto Rolfo won the battle for third place after a final lap duel with Fonsi Nieto, ending his four-race barren run without a point.
Iannone's Fimmco team-mate Gabor Talmacsi clung on to third place for as long as he could, but the Hungarian was eventually hounded down by a pack led by Karel Abraham and finished in sixth.
With championship rivals Thomas Luethi and Julian Simon amongst the many retirements throughout the race, Elias has been rewarded for his consistency by opening up a gap at the top of a tight rider table.
The Gresini rider is the only rider to have finished in the points at every race so far this season, and the win in Germany is his third win of the year and first since Le Mans back in May.
With Japan's Shoya Tomizawa finishing 15th, Iannone's second spot moves him up to third in the standings.
