Carlin Motorsport will become the first all-British team to compete in the IndyCar Series after they confirmed their participation in the US competition.
Carlin have signed up British driver Max Chilton from US team Chip Ganassi.
The 26 year old had competed with Carlin in 2015, when the team began competing in the Indy Lights Championship, a tournament they went on to win with another British driver, Ed Jones, in 2016.
Chilton finished fourth in the Indy 500 last season, and will be partnered by the US driver Charlie Kimball.
Chilton has previously driven for Marussia in Formula 1, taking part in 35 grands prix.
Team principal Trevor Carlin said:
"We're delighted to finally be able to announce our entry into the IndyCar Series, the result of a long-term ambition of the team.
"To be joined on that journey in our debut season with drivers we already have a race winning history with in Max and Charlie, is beyond what we could have expected."
Chilton announced his return by saying:
"I am super excited for 2018 as Carlin is like family to me. Having raced with them on and off since 2009 and having had my most competitive years with the team, I know we can work toward great things in IndyCar."
