The German equalled Johannes Rydzek's record of world titles by posting the best score (138.5 points) in the ski jumping and then seeing home victory on the snow.
Frenzel's ski jumping total was good for a five-second advantage over Mario Seidl and ten seconds over Jan Schmid and Franz-Josef Rehrl.

And the 30-year-old would need that lead as he eventually crossed the line in 23:43.0 minutes to take gold, just 4.3 seconds ahead of Schmid in silver, as Rehrl won bronze – 8.7 seconds behind the champion.
Frenzel won his first World Championship back in 2011 – in the individual/normal hill event – before following that up with a gold apiece in 2013 and 2015 before clinching a pair of titles in Lahti two years ago.
He will have the opportunity to overhaul the record of compatriot Rydzek – who finished ninth on the day – with one more individual and two team events still to come in Seefeld over the next eight days.
