Eric Frenzel has won five straight World Cup overall titles in nordic combined and is clearly the man to beat in PyeongChang.

  • Name - Eric Frenzel
  • Date of Birth - 21/11/1988
  • Place of Birth - Annaberg-Buchholz, Saxony, Germany
  • Sport/Discipline - Nordic combined
  • Honours - Olympics: Gold x1, Silver x1, Bronze x1; World Championships: Gold x5, Silver x5, Bronze x2

Frenzel, 28, has won the overall title every season since 2012-13 and is looking to add to his three Olympic medals when he arrives in South Korea.

Nordic combined sees athletes combine ski jumping and cross-country skiing. They compete as individuals in normal hill and large hill disciplines - and also as a team.

The German picked up a bronze in Vancouver in 2010 in the team event and took a step forward in Sochi in 2014 when securing gold on the normal hill and a team silver.

With 12 medals at World Championships also in his collection, Frenzel will be the man everyone fears in PyeongChang 2018.
