THURSDAY'S HIGHLIGHTS (all times GMT)

There is plenty to keep an eye on as we enter the business end of the Olympics. There are ten medal events on Thursday, and the highlight should be the women's combined slalom which will see Lindsey Vonn's final Olympic race.
Sticking with skiing and Great Britain's Dave Ryding is in action in the men's slalom and whilst there's an outside chance of a medal it's going to be tough with Marcel Hirscher, Henrik Kristoffersen and Andre Myhrer all favourites for the gold.
The women's Ice Hockey final will be played between Canada and the USA while a guaranteed good watch is the Ladies' Big Air final.
Alpine Skiing
  • 02:00 - Men's slalom
  • 06:00 - Women's combined slalom
Ice Hockey
  • 04:10 - Women's gold medal game
Snowboard
  • 00:30-02:00 - Ladies Big Air final

THE MAIN EVENT

Lindsey Vonn's heroic efforts to get a bronze medal in the downhill deserve all the plaudits that come. Vonn has a rod in her arm and has come back from a succession of horrific injuries to secure this medal, and it was evidently her most emotional following all her hard and the loss of her grandfather Don before the tournament.
The women's combined will be Vonn's last Olympic race, she herself has admitted that she doesn't think her body could handle another four years, and ultimately it's unlikely she's going to medal. Wendy Holdener will be pushing for gold and although it's not their best event you can't rule out Mikaela Shiffrin or Sofia Goggia.
It seems apt that Vonn and Shiffrin will be racing together for the former's final Olympic run. It is tempting to paint this as the master handing over to the apprentice but in truth these are two of the greats of skiing in action. For now Vonn is the greatest female Alpine Skiier of all time, possibly of anyone ever, and she will be until Shiffrin can match her numbers.
What next for Vonn? Who knows. She doesn't seem sure herself, but tomorrow it's all about celebrating her incredible career.

POSSIBLE HEADLINE MAKER

If you watch one thing on Thursday make it the Ladies' Big Air final with a host of big names gunning for gold. The overwhelming favourite will be Austrian Anna Gasser, who is the reigning Big Air world and Winter X Games champion.
However, she may not have it all her own way with America's Jamie Anderson high on confidence after her gold in the slopestyle. Anderson, a consistent rider who isn't as flashy as Gasser, could create history by becoming the first snowboarder to win more than one medal at an Olympics.
Don't rule out the Japanese duo of Reira Iwabuchi and Yuka Fujimori either. Whereas Fujimori is the experienced head who has been around the circuit for a while Iwabuchi is the precocious young talent set to take the world by storm. She's just 16, and one to keep an eye out for in Beijing in 2022.

BRITWATCH

Team GB are in action in three events on Thursday and first up will be Kyle Smith's curlers who face a tie-breaker against Switzerland. The winner of this match will go through to the semi-finals and Britain were victorious when they faced off earlier in the games. The winner will face Sweden later on Thursday.
Dave Ryding is in action during the men's slalom and while a medal will be tough it's certainly not totally out of the question for the experienced rider. Laurie Taylor will be making his Olympics debut in the same event in what will be an incredible moment for the 22-year-old.
Emily Sarsfield will become Britain’s first female representative in ski cross whilse Team GB's two four-man crews will continue with their training runs.
